Now for a change of pace, I'd like to accentuate the positive in what Sesame Street meant to me as a child, by posting a small handful of what clips have had the biggest impacts of me, whether back then or recently when I rediscovered them via Youtube.

I'd like to kick-start this thread by posting 3 clips, each one being a musical number from Sesame Street that had a big impact on me.

1.) "Infinity* (otherwise known as "That's About the Size of It"). It not only taught about physical perspectives, but mental perspectives as well. ^_^

2.) "The Madrigal Alphabet"

And perhaps the one Joe Rapuso song that had the biggest impact of all on me...

"Little Things".

It's so simple, but the message is HUGE: Sometimes the simplest things in life...are the most precious and important of all.

I'm sorry, I think I'm tearing up. Well, that's enough for now, I think. And please, feel free to contribute if you like.

Ooo, so many, but the first one to come to mind is the moose.

Also, toucan two step.

That's About the Size always made me rather sad. I don't like to watch it. But I totally agree with you on the other two clips.

I've always been a huge fan of the Monsterpiece Theater segments on Sesame Street

Oh yeah, how could I *ever* forget the 'loaf of bread, etc.' skit? That pretty much engraved itself in mine and my family's brains; we can't get a carton of milk without resisting the temptation to say 'that' line! :P

To everyone else, this is a pretty good start. I'll be back in a while to post another couple of things, if I can remember them. :)

Okay, I'm back, and with a couple of clips that, while a little odd and unorthodox, were ones that I looked forward to seeing as a 7-year old.

How many people here remember the clip with the Russian nesting dolls? Well, as much as I found it fascinating then, I think the ending bordered a tiny bit into Nightmare Fuel as well. I mean, those other 8 dolls looking at the split body of the 9th, just waiting for something to happen...then the 10th and last emerges, with the BAREST minimum of what you could call a face! *shudders*

And this one...I hadn't thought about it in DECADES! But 2 nights ago, about the same night I started this thread, as I was looking up Sesame Street clips for the number 12...I found *this*!

I mean, the way the assembled crowd went APES**T when the last little rock said '12' always gave my little mind a small joy-gasm. ^_^

Glad I could share, I'll be back.

Hmm, looks like my idea for a thread wasn't such a hot idea after all, at least, in the sense of letting others contribute. I mean, if you really wanted to look up any classic Sesame Street clip you loved, it would be faster and more effective to just go to Youtube directly.

So in that case, I'll wrap up this thread (at least, the last time I post in here, I hope) by laying down my last two beloved clips, holding the positions of having the biggest impact on me, in my current adult years after rediscovering them.

First clip - "Two Little Dolls"

Just watch...this is just too precious for words. ^_^

and the one that I hold the dearest..."Daddy Dear"

This one needs a lot of explanation as to why this has the most impact on me. It haunts me to this day for 2 reasons:

1.) it was my first exposure to nonsensical lyrics that I could fully understand and grasp at my age.

and 2.) ....those last 5 words...symbolize the death of my childhood; that is, my innocence and simplicity. On and off, for the past two years, I've heard those 5 words echo in my head at totally random moments...and every time I do...it makes me want to cry, and wonder 'where did my innocence go?'

Well, I hope I was able to explain well enough the reasons why I love those clips so much. It's getting really late where I am, so I bid you a fond goodnight.
