Soap operas - love the or hate them?

Do you like soaps?
Can't stand them! I need to leave the room if one is on. 82%  82%  [ 14 ]

Do you like soap operas? I find them very irritating and would never voluntarily watch one. It must run in the family because my mother describes them as 'A bunch of people yelling at each other'. What do you think?

I can't stand them. I have had enough drama in my own real life. Who wants to listen to fake characters having fake arguments, when they have been subjected to an almost daily dose of real arguments most of their lives. I also don't think all the sex stuff is appropriate, except on pay to watch porn channels. For one thing, kids shouldn't be watching that stuff, but they do, all too often.

Soaps are worthless trash.

Soap operas need to be cancelled ASAP; they are nothing but trash.

I don't watch them. I tried once, but I couldn't follow it. You have to watch it every week to know what's going on. Besides, I don't watch TV until the evening.

Strangely, I used to watch them when I was younger, 'Neighbours' in particular. But, once I reached adulthood, I completely turned away from them. I can't stand them now,

There aren't that many left on the air in the US. They are replacing SOAPnet with another Disney Channel.

I'm a guy who likes to escape into fantasy ands soaps are not the answer. Transforming robots, epic space batles, superheroes saving the day, animation those are the things for me.

UK soaps are such a timesink. Emerdale, Eastenders and Coronation st all what 4 times a week or something ridiculous like that? And girls sit in week after week watching this crap, then one of them kills its characters on the Christmas 'special'. Wow.

My grandmother watches them religiously, and since I often watched TV together with her, I ended up following a lot of soap opera storylines, mostly from The Bold, ATWT, and Days of Our Lives. I actually used to care about some of the characters. But now I generally don't watch them anymore. My grandma didn't like that ATWT aired its last episode on Dutch television last month (a year after the cancellation in the US).
