I purchased a foreign DVD (it is legit because it has the proper silkscreen DVD , plastic case with artwork and DVD menu system) it was also in PAL video format.

Which if it were pirated someone would have gone to the trouble of converting it to NTSC format ;-)

I had to go out to the electronics store and find a Coby DVD player for $19 in order to play it. I wound up paying $12 in a bidding war for the DVD (the first place guy paid $12.50 and got the first DVD)...it seems like this was a used DVD someone purchased and resold.
So I paid $12 to watch a movie that I would have paid $9 to see in the theatres...the fact that I had to scramble to bid for a foreign DVD means people want to see this movie.

Someone better release this movie in the US instead of just releasing it to DVD it is good.

Short and sweet review

The performances are heartfelt, the film is good and it should be released.
I strongly disagree with criticisms of Radha Mitchells performance she was great.
It is NOT pedestrian nor is it compromised.

Gary Coles perforance was okay...but he did portray the "regular guy" well enough.

Some people wont "get it" but this is a story that needs to be told.

This is one of those times where downloading the movie seems like the only option...so ya...

I have seen it also, not too bad I suppose.

buy a legitimate DVD copy or wait until it comes out in theatre. The only legit DVD's available right now, are PAL(european and asian) not NTSC and they are imported. Oddly enough the cheap Coby brand dvd players are more capable of playing them(because they region free and can play both pal/ntsc dvds) than the "nice" ones

Now hopefully sometime soon "Mozart and the whale" would be available for
legitimate download on Itunes.

I've been trying to find a working torrent for this, but haven't been successful so far.

It just came out on DVD here.

I liked it a lot. I thought the stars were both great and so are the supporting cast. I guess I'd query Radha Mitchell's voice quality, she has NT voice quality, very clear and precise, but I think she's the higher functioning character out of the cast and hey, if everyone shouted or mumbled no-one would want to see the movie.

I was glad they kept it short-ish and I can understand why it may have been re-cut. It just wouldn't work as a long film.

I think it's to be commended on many levels. It's our first movie about people like us, so what's not to like?
