Anyone else here into filmmaking, like I am, or just into storytelling in general?

I'm currently attending college for filmmaking; not technically film school, but a film program they offer. The more I learn and do, the more I feel like filmmaking was what I was meant to do; there's not a single part of the process, from pre-production to post-production, that I don't enjoy, especially when I get to work with like-minded individuals.

I've got various ideas for movies and TV series' popping up in my head pretty much all the time, and I'm currently writing the script for a feature-length sci-fi/cyberpunk film titled Type III (read/pronounced as Type Three) as well as the script for a far-future sci-fi TV series titled New Zero, along with some other projects. As you might be able to tell from those two ideas, I love sci-fi. When it comes to storytelling, I'm most interested in what the world could be in the future, rather than what it's been in the past or what it is right now.

Anyway, who else here is planning to/working on getting into the movie industry somehow, whether that's as a writer, actor, director, cinematographer, or whatever else?

I myself have no delusions about how hard it is to get into the industry, and especially how hard it is to get a prestigious position like writer or director, but since I'm OK with working on any part of the filmmaking process, I'm happy to start out as a stage hand or something, and work my way up from there.

It's good to see another film maker here.

I do visual effects work and motion graphics for a living and have made a few short films (not professionally). The stuff I enjoy most is writing, graphics and photography aspects.

It is difficult to get the "above the line" jobs, especially for aspies, but it can be done. I think the thing that will help you get work more than anything else is the network of people you know. This can put Aspies at a disadvantage, but if you know it going in, you can find ways to develop the contacts that you need.

The best way to develop the contacts is to do whatever work you can get and do the best job you can. If you show yourself to be a hard, capable worker, production managers will remember you want to hire you again. The job attracts a lot of flakes so if you are not a flake, you can impress the people in a position to hire you.

That, I can do. I even take my current job as a janitor seriously, and I don't consider going to work to be negotiable. Imagine what kind of job enthusiasm and loyalty I'd have to something I actually enjoy doing and have a major interest in. I might comment on the ridiculous hours, but I'd be there, on time, ready and willing to work, day-in and day-out.

On another note, you said you did a few short films? I'd like to see a few, if you have links to any of them. :)

I posted these a couple days ago. Here they are again.

This was made earlier this year. It's short and fun.

This is a documentary that I made last year. (I think. Maybe it was the year before... I don't know)

I'm currently finishing one that still has a bit of visual effects work that needs to be finished.

The films I shot on college are on film and I haven't put them on youtube.

*Raises hand until arm rips out of socket*

I'm actually more of a writer (novelist) at the moment but I am planning to become a major film director in the future. I believe it will happen, all it will take is time and effort.

At high school, I am currently taking 3 film classes out of my 6 classes in total. I've always been interested in storytelling but have been experimenting with different mediums and settled on directing, specifically mocap and cgi animation directing. :)

As for the actual stories I plan on telling, dieselpunk, dragon fantasy, surrealist science fiction, even a rom-com about an aspie and her neurotypical boyfriend xD amongst mant other stories. :)

I do lots of film shorts on my own. Generally 5-6 minutes is as long as my movies are. I enjoy directing and writing, as well as the other aspects of film like editing. I don't intend to major in it when I go to college, though.
