Xenu, (not the WP user), but the dictator of the "Galactic Confederacy" who, 75 million years ago, brought billions of his people to Earth in a DC-8-like spacecraft, stacked them around volcanoes and killed them using hydrogen bombs. Official Scientology dogma holds that the essences of these many people remained, and that they form around people in modern times, causing them spiritual harm. - Scientology

Scientology is a cult.

And if that's not enough--Hubbard did it on a dare. Why is this in this forum?

Anyhow, Scientology isn't something you believe in so much as something you buy your way into. It takes $$$ to be a Scientologist, so not, I'm not one. I'm rather short on that particular type of "faith," especially in this economy.

Oh, and they are paranoid about people using communication/information technology to expose their secrets (like Wikileaks did) and they like to send out death threats to people who try to expose them for being the con artist charlatans that they are (like they did to Wikileaks). But I'm sure they are all very nice people.

Infidels! Blasphemers! Lord Xenu will not be pleased!

When he hears of this, many Shubs and Zuuls (you know who you are) will know what it means to be roasted in the depths of the Sloar this day I can tell you! :x

Hail Xenu and his mighty battle Sloar, Toonces!

I believe that science can solve anything.

That's true, but just remember, there is no science involved with scientology. The fact that they put 'scient' in front means nothing really, it is a business/cult that claims psychology is evil while simultaneously harming people with pseudo-scientific beliefs and practices and 'organizations' such as Narconon and Criminon. The 'Fair Game' policy that the 'Church' has perpetrated against free journalism is one of the most under-reported violations of human rights in the past 50 years. I could go on and on but I think it suffices to say that it is a big fat global scam that wants your money.

I can't believe the US government won't do anything about this garbage. They basically grease the palms of movie stars in order to get their support. These stars have nothing to do with the real church's practice. The 'church' is out there in Hollywood getting involved with young actors and actresses, doing favors for them. L Ron specifically aimed to get Hollywood on his side

There are a lot of Americans that think they're a legitimate religion despite the overwhelming amount of evidence to the contrary.

I was debating this on another forum just last night and it was compared to Christianity. I was told that I was bigoted against an entire religion.

Oh god. I don't even bother debating anymore once people get to that whole 'It's a religion' thing, if they're that convinced I don't expect I can change their mind. What I don't understand is how effectively the Church has been able to silence its opponents. I mean, Christianity doesn't require you to keep paying money to learn more? And you can be a non-denominational Christian. If you practice Scientology outside of the Church they reserve the right to sue you for copyright infringement... WTF?

The argument was that Christian churches 'require' it's members to tithe. Flimsy, if you ask me. I've never come across a Christian church that required you to tithe.

Definitely flimsy. The local Anglican church is unlikely to litigate you for not paying tithe. And in any case there are a lot of Christians that don't go to Church; an equivalent demographic is not allowed to exist in Scientology. Its ridiculous that some people cannot see this :(

Jesus doesn't need tithes. He makes all his money fixing sports for the vegas mob...
