From what film/venue is my avatar from?

My signature avatar is very meaningful for me in many respects and I've had this avatar a long time, as many of you already know. In actuality, I thought my avatar was, well, mine!

Fairly recently, a Wrong Planet member mentioned, just in passing, that my avatar is from a scary movie. I had no idea. I ought to copyright *my* avatar 8)

What movie? Just curious. Thanks.

Oh, I had thought that LabPet had scanned her own two hands using some gadget like a flat bed scanner. Before inverting the white/black and playing with the colour settings. I knew that LabPet is a young lady, the hands do look like a woman's hands and I know that she has worked as a lab worker for years, I suspected some sort of extra fine scanning machine designed for autoradiography films or electrophoresis gels had been used.

Thinking of horror movies, I have seen plenty of films but I am unable to recall seeing that image at the cinema.

My avatar is my left hand holding a flask, I am not going to say in public what is in the flask.

I don't recall the film, either, but there was a specific horror film several years back (in the 90s, i think) that used that image (or one nearly identical to it) in their ad campaign.

It looks a little like an image from the Swedish film Let the Right One In. That being said, it's not the same image (which is on both the DVD and the original book's cover), it just resembles it somewhat in style and colour.
