I read in the paper that Johnny Depp intends to star in a big-screen "The Long Ranger" as Tonto. Depp says that he always felt that Native Americans were badly portrayed in Hollywood films and that it is a real opportunity for him to give a salute to them.

That article also said that Johnny himself is part Cherokee.

Anyone remember the last Lone Ranger movie from sometime in the eighties? You know, with Christopher Loyd as the bad guy?
No? Doesn't surprise me - - did terrible.

Nope. Tonto is the Lone Ranger's Native American friend. The name of the horse is Silver.

Last I heard about this movie, George Clooney was going to play the Lone Ranger. Depp and Clooney in same movie, pure marketing gold.
