Any fans out there? Yeah, yeah, I know the series is almost ten years old, but that doesn't diminish its awesomeness! I've been slowly re-watching my way through the series (I'm at season 6 now), and the first thing that pops out at me is how much TV nowadays sucks compared to the Buffinator (yes, I just said that).

Any favorite characters? Episodes? Seasons? Speculations about the possible Aspergie-ness of the Scoobies? (I'm thinking Anya and Tara are definite candidates.)

Myself, I'm head over heels in looove with Spike. God, no one should be allowed to look that sexy without serious repercussions (rabid fangirl attacks?). Angel drives me crazy, with his whole oh-woe-is-me-I-think-I'm-gonna-go-sleep-with-an-underage-teenager-even-though-I'm-over-200-years-old shtick. (Did anyone else get the pedophile vibe from their relationship?) At least Spike admitted that his attraction to Buffy was wrong :P

And of course, Willow is awesomeness itself. And Anya! And Faith has got to be one of the coolest characters in the show. I loved the season with her and Mayor Wilkins -- so adorable! Okay, I'm gonna stop not before I go all fangirly, if that hasn't happened already. >_>

I'm a die-hard fan, too. I never saw the flaws that other people saw in the series. I even absolutely love Season Six (how could you not love that much nekkid Spike?). My favorite episodes: Dead Things (Season Six, Episode 13) is up there. People used to joke that Spike had chemistry with his *crypt door*, fer cryin' out loud. Restless (Season Four, finale). Surprise and Innocence (Season Two, Episdodes 13 and 14). Becoming, Part 2 (Season 2, Finale) STILL makes me cry whenever I see it.

Faith is my fav.

I absolutely loved all of seasons 1 thru 3. But I think rewriting the show and introducing a "sister" made it suck.
There was that episode from season 5...where Buffy thought she was still in that instiution....that was a good one.
Making Spike...a vampire with a soul...bad move. Putting him with Buffy...even worse. Although, the Buffybot was funny at times....

Yes, my favourite seasons are the first three, as well. The high school years. I love the complete nerdiness of Willow and Xander, it reminded me a lot of how my friends and I were in secondary school.

But my favourite character is Buffy. I like to consider the 1992 movie with Kristy Swanson to be 'canon' to the tv-series, if only for the repeated mention of 'burning down the gym'. I really enjoy Buffy's development from being a Cordelia-esque stereotype airhead SoCal valley girl, to a responsible, strong, mature young woman, from the movie and throughout the TV show.

As such, my favourite episodes are the ones that really focus on Buffy's coming of age, like 'Prophecy Girl', the first season finale (excellent acting by Sarah) and 'What's My Line?', 'Surprise'/'Innocence', and 'Helpless' (in which Buffy turns 18).

Yes, I think Buffy was a great show, because it mixed so many genres. At first glance, it's a horror/fantasy show with a strong element of the high school drama interwoven into it... and then it also uses comedy and action, and does it well.

I don't think it featured the best acting performances in the history of television, but I do think it had great dramatic moments, as well as good comedy, balancing the two surprisingly well.

Yeah, sticking Spike with a soul and making him fall in love with Buffy killed the character for me. I mean, part of Spike's appeal was 1) his endearing infatuation with Drusilla, and 2) the fact that he's a bad boy. The writers destroyed that in one feel swoop when they pulled that oh-look-I-have-a-soul-now nonsense. Still though, that doesn't detract from his fundamental hunkiness. :D

The first three season were great, I agree, but there's a lot to be said for the later seasons as well. Some things that I didn't like initially (the introduction of Tara and Dawn, as well as Giles' departure, to name a few) I've since gotten used to, and once I got over my initial annoyance/disbelief/anger, I realized that they were probably good decisions on the writers' part.

Though I still hate Dawn's guts >_>
