I watched it mainly because my grandmother watched it. I had a slightly renewed interest in it recently because (a) Betty White is on the show, and it ties in to my fascination with game shows, as she was married to "Password" host Allen Ludden and was a frequent panelist on many shows, and (b) there was an episode where Dorothy (the Bea Arthur character) recalled a guy in the third grade running for class president with the campaign slogan "Vote for me and I'll show you my weenie". According to Dorothy, he won by a landslide.

One wouldn't think a show about four post menopausal women living together would be such a hit, but my friend's brother never missed an episode. It had very good writing.
