Does anyone here think L on Death Note has Asperger's? I mean he sure has some traits:
1. Social misfit (his odd habits like sitting hunched over)
2. Analytical mind (according to research, lots of Aspies are good at analyzing things)
3. overconfidence
4. He stares blankly a lot, especially when he's thinking.
If he's an Aspie, he sure is a cool one!

I established this the first episode I saw L. And I am dead certain he is (no pun intended)

I've been saying he is since I first seen him.

it's aspie thing? o.o

btw. author of death note said that she (he?) loves to write in L's sitting position. maybe she's aspie too?XD

quotes:

26.) Are there any Death Note characters you feel are similar to you?
Ooba: I'm like Near in that I rarely go outside, and like Light in that I'm good at my studies....
<-near? aspie! XD

Quote:
--Do you read many novels?
Ooba: To be honest, I don't read them at all. (...) I'm no good at reading. The manager has recommended various books to me, but I haven't tried any of them. Whenever I try to read, my mind starts wandering, or I poke fun at every little thing [in the novel]... and wind up completely losing track of the plot.
<-it's more like add thing, but i have the same and i thought it's cool.

Not as much of a death not fan as some but he's eiteher designed/written as an Aspie or an agorphobe.

I actually not only bought the first manga volume of Death Note today, but also the English version of Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murders. It looks good, talking about when L works with Naomi Misora to solve the Los Angeles BB Murders. It seems to have a very surprising twist.

Okay, some interesting facts about Death Note Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Killings:

*The novels is narrated from the point of view of Mello, who was apparently told this story by L.

*It details the serial killing case that L and Naomi Misora worked together on.

*It also details the first appearance of L's Ryuzaki alias, though there is a major twist.

*Wedy, Aiber, Watari, Near, Light Yagami and Raye Penber are all mentioned, but don't make an actual appearance.

*More background is given, not ony to L's modus operandi as an investigator, but how the whole Wammy House system works (and a rather dark secret of the past).

*The history given in this story seems a little out of whack, as a third World War is mentioned as being the event shortly after which L solves his first case.

*An intriguing possibility is raised by Mello that people might be born with Shinigami eyes.

*We learn where L learns Capoeira, and more about Naomi Misora's career with the FBI.

I don't feel L is overconfident, he deserves all his confidence. I thought it was HILARIOUS, in episode 19, (slight spoiler) when he revealed he was not only L, the world's best detective, but also the world's 2nd and 3rd best detectives, too.

Oh, the novel I read gives info on that too. There really were seperate detectives called Erlado Coil and Danuve once.

If anyone read Book 13 of Death Note (How to Read) and check out L's profile, you'll see a hex chart of some sort displaying his personality and skills levels. One of them, social skills, are at minimum to low. He's definitely a aspie, an undiagnosed one, since the book does not explicitly mention the syndrome in the plot.

You know if it wasn't for stumbling across a site on Asperger's several months back while looking up stuff on Death Note, I'd never have realized the cause for all my "odd" behaviors. I really have to thank the character of L for that because he finally gave me a definition for why I am the way I am.
So yes, I believe he's an Aspie. We share a love of sweets and a hatred of shoes.

While I agree L and Near have Aspie traits, my view is that unless the creator of a show/movie says that a character has Aspergers/Autism, I will see them as only have Aspie traits, not being officially Aspie.
