The Simpsons has had highs and lows. I think after they hit 200 episodes, they were past it for a time. I presume they got some new writers and started hitting some topics that were pretty bold and pulled off a few gems in the process.

Haven't watched it for years now.

1998 (Season 10) - 2008 (Season 20), with the exceptions being seasons 12, 13 and 15.

Ever since 2009 however (Season 21), I must say it has generally been awesome. They are back on track with the hilarity, in my opinion. I am a complete Simpsons nerd, so I will watch absolutely every single episode, be it good or bad.

For me The Simpsons probably lost it's charm around season 18 which was followed by the movie which I thought was really good. I watched a few episodes around season 19, 20 and onwards but they just weren't that good. But when they come out on DVD which will be a few years I will still buy them.

'funny' is subjective.

Later Simpsons is generally poor, I don't know what seasons. I thought the movie was dire.
