I think Tom Hardy is a great actor but do you think they should have cast a taller actor to play the villian since Bane was very tall and big. Tom Hardy is only 5'10. It will look a bit weird cause batman will be taller than bane since Christian Bale is 5'11 or 6ft.

Do you agree that they should have hired a taller actor to play the role of bane?

I think they can get around the size issue - have Bane wear lifts, or have Batman standing in a ditch . Hey, simplistic tricks have been used in show business for as long as there have been movies.

I'd jut thought they would have cast some 6ft5 monster to play Bane.

Not necessarily. It depends. Bane in his pre-venom form wasn't especially big and was actually a bit scrawny. After getting venom, it could be more of a CG Bane to increase size, height, etc.

Very plausible.

Christopher Nolan wants to stay away from the CG villain types found in Marvel movies. His re-telling of the Batman series was, I thought, supposed to be a more plausible realistic version with a darker edge to it. If he does go the CG route, I think it would do nothing but harm to his trilogy.

Agreed. What I'd like to see is Bane coming to Gotham as Ra's Al Ghul's prodigy, a villain that's Batman's physical and mental equal, not some overly-muscled brute.

I think Nolan is put into an impossible situation where fans expect something bigger than the Dark Knight, and he can't possibly top his 2nd movie in the franchise. I really don't want to see a million villains in the next Batman movie, like Spiderman had become. I want to see more attention paid to the plot, realistic villains taken from the Batman universe, and tieing it into the previous 2 movies. Its like The Godfather series...the 1st and 2nd ones are considered two of the greatest films of all time, consistently ranked in the top 10...the 3rd one was atrocious, because fans of the series had expectations. I just hope Nolan does the movie logically and doesn't allow the fans to dictate how the movie is made.

Bane's Physical Attributes

Normal: Height: 5 ft 6in, Weight: 140 pounds

When on Venom: Height: 6 ft 8 in, Weight: 350 pounds

It's hard to imagine now but when Heath Ledger was announced to play the Joker many people were baffled and believed it was a bad move - look what happened.

I'm a fanboy but I have faith that Christopher Nolan will blow my mind open for the eighth time in a row.

I doubt that Nolan will use any poncey CGI to make Bane look intimidating anyway. Tom Hardy will hopefully reprise his Bronson role, namely just bulk him up and watch him go toe to toe with Christian Bale.

Recently heard that the script is being sent to the TDKR cast WITHOUT an ending, maybe Nolan has topped the Dark Knight after all? July 2012 can't come quicker enough.

They could always cast some huge person as Bane's body double while he's on Venom, and let Hardy voice the role while the big guy's mouth is covered by a mask. It worked for David Prowse and James Earl Jones for the role of Darth Vader, after all - and it might be the only way to get a big, heavily-muscled guy to sound as smart as Bane is supposed to be, without paying the heavy freight to cast Vin Diesel...

Except that is exactly what Bane is. He's also very savvy and streetwise but, make no mistake, he is an overly-muscled brute. Very smart....but friggin' huge.

I was referring more to the thing in Batman & Robin. I still don't think the Bane you've pictured would fit into Nolan's films (strong yes, pro-wrestler physique no), but it would be a damn sight better than the other alternative....

Also, it looks like they have cast someone to play Ra's Al Ghul in flashbacks.
