I saw a movie tonight. Which one is irrelevant. What I thought was interesting was the quality of the picture. Until my car exploded, I went to a theater about 8 miles south of me for all my movies. Unfortunately given the terrain and weather tonight, that would be about a 4 hour ride one way. So I went to a local theater that still uses 35mm celluloid film. I didn't realize how awful it really is until today. Watching the random pops and cigarette burns was incredibly distracting. It was especially obvious during the previews. Seeing all the crap come across the green screen was very distracting. Also, it seems like it was far less crisp than digital display. Face it Hollywood, it's 2011. The day of film have passed.

But yet we still have films in no more than 30FPS... because good frame rates look like cheesy home videos.
