These bring back memories.

I loved this song when I was 12 and in my early teens:

I didn't watch this show much but I loved the theme song:

I liked the original theme song better:

My favorite show:

What have they done to our shows?

Most of this time I would have been in my teens and early twenties, but I really liked those Nickolodeon cartoons that weren't just trying to be gross -- like Wild Thornberries and Rugrats. But Ren & Stimpy, Rocko, Aah Real Monsters and some of those others now strike me as being kind of shallow and unfunny. (And I just can't get over how terribly fake Rocko's accent was OMG.)

Other good ones from the '90s might be Daria and Twins of Destiny (the latter being in the tradition of other super-long cartoon sagas like Seven Cities of Gold and Ulysses 31, both ones I did watch as a kid... mid '80s or so.) I'm surprised when I hear people saying that Gargoyles was the cartoon that first introduced large story arcs -- Must not have seen some of these '80s cartoons, or even earlier Anime.

In my opinion, pretty much everything on Cartoon Network along with some shows on Nickelodeon.

The past several days, I've been watching alot of "Recess". Good god, is this show funny! I never realized how many adult references the writers of this show got away with. And I love how the whole show is one giant satire of the public education system.

Some of my favorites growing up (note: some of these are late 80s, instead of 90s, but they are still the same era).

I loved the "Cartoon Cartoons" that came on Cartoon Network during the late 90's and early 2000. There were some great shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog (which is my favorite cartoon to this day), Johnny Bravo, Dexter's Laboratory, The Powerpuff Girls, Cow & Chicken, and Ed, Edd, n' Eddy. I remember how I used to look forward to every Friday as a kid when I got home from school because they had their "Cartoon Cartoon Fridays" which showed all these awesome shows.

This was when Cartoon Network hit its peak, and sadly after these shows became too old they had to come up with new shows, and the ones they came up with all turned out to be mediocre or lousy. I think Nickelodeon is going through this same problem (they used to have great shows too).

This is why I'm so happy I bought Courage the Cowardly Dog Season 1 on DVD so I can watch it any time I want. :D
