I just watched this movie... I am quite surprised, it was rather inspired, and I actually cried (! !) (I am not much of a crier). I thought it would be cheesy and lame but it had a true sense of humor, interesting characters, nice music. Two thumbs up!! :D

I saw the movie on DVD, and while I thought it was good, it wasn't great; the songs were mostly unmemorable (exceptions including Seasons of Love, Out Tonight and La Vie Boheme) and the ending, the more I think about it, was complete BS. It would've made better sense for Mimi to die, IMO, then come back to life with all that hooey about Angel and a white light.

Anyway, that's just my opinion. Please don't kill me, Rentheads.

You know, I loved the rest of the movie, but I also thought Mimi should have died. It was just so cliche for her to live, and so predictable. And the whole hand twitching thing? Come on.
On the other hand, I really did enjoy the movie. It's nice to see something inspiring and closer-to-reality than the majority of the movies out today. (Because who really puts snakes on a plane?)

Well, you have to start from the premise that all musicals ARE kind of corny, but as far as corny musicals go, this one is remarkable! It carries and maintains a sense of humor about its own subject underscored by the pathos of the AIDS epidemic.
