When watching Movies or TV about good vs evil have you ever rooted for the villain to triumph?

T-101 ("Terminator" 1984)

The Joker ("Batman" 1989)

The Xenomorph ("Alien" 1979)

Pretty much the antagonists in every single slasher movie :D

Rumpelstiltskin ("Shrek Forever After" 2010)

Hal 9000 ("2001: A Space Odyssey" 1968)

Godzilla ("Gojira" 1954)

Hans Gruber ("Die Hard" 1988)

The Mechanical Shark ("Jaws" 1975)

Unicron ("Transformers: The Movie" 1986)

Bill the Butcher ("Gangs of New York" 2002)

Cyrus the Virus ("Con-Air" 1997)

Dracula (Any version)

The Trix Rabit.

Seriously, watching those commercials made me want to punch those cold hearted kids. It would not kill to give him a little Trix cereal and yogurt.

bleach-the bounts- they pretty much hated the soul society for abandoning them and trying to kill them after accidentally creating them...at least that's the leader's goal. some of the other bounts betrayed him and stuff.

also the 2nd bleach movie-diamond dust rebellion where this guy had the same Zanpakutō as his best friend so the soul society is like "that's not allowed so you have to fight to the death". even after one of them says he'll abandon his Zanpakutō, they're like "no you must fight". they fight and after they decide who gets to keep the Zanpakutō they kill the loser. so now that the guy was reborn, he wants to destroy the soul society as revenge. the whole fight to the death thing is explained as that's how it's always been for the rare case 2 people have the same Zanpakutō, which is just unfair.

more like the as*hole society. they kill anyone who's different

Definitely Dracula, especially in the 1993 Coppola version, they play him off as such a tragic figure and I was really saddened by the end result of his pursuits.

Darth Vader - He should've just whacked that whining, good-for-nothing son of his when they first met and put him out of our misery.

Vegeta from Dragon Ball. He wouldn't use drugs to cheat, doesn't quit easily, and did care about his son on some level. I kept wanting him to finish one of those big battles, and roll off as the hero, but no. :(

Nephlite from Sailormoon. He was just learning what the love of humans was, and the Negaverse jerks wanted him to die for it. At the same time, he was being hunted down by Sailormoon and her sidekick Tuxedo mask.

The computer in Irobot. It tried to cut crime with the human species, take care of diseases, and who knows? Yet, everyone wanted to destroy her, just because they were afraid they would get lonely.

Frankenstein's monster. He was far more innocent than his maker.

I was so mad when Bella didn't get eaten to death at the end of the first Twilight movie. My grandmother was on Team Jacob. My GRANDMOTHER! I hate Twilight. Falling in love with your food is so dumb. I wouldn't take a Filet Mignon out to dinner with me.

Dr. Claw, but only when it comes to Gadget.

Inspector Gadget makes my brain hurt so much that I almost wish he WOULD get disposed of by one of Claw's traps. 8O

Rumple was such a cool nasty fellow. One could not help liking him.

HAL 9000 was NOT a villain. He was doing what he was programmed to do. His duty was to protect the mission.

It depends if the Protagonist has enough animosity to develop sympathy for the Antagonist.

Take John Connor for instance in T-2. How did anyone manage to put up with such a whiny brat? Oh yes, because he is "the saviour".

Three times I've seen the antagonist win:

Chinatown
Sev7en
The Usual Suspects

Two of those films has such a great actor. Kevin Spacey. :)

No. HAL had no free will so he could not be bad-ass.
