Yeah, probably the best anime/manga, and it is one of the top animated shows on imbd.com

It's one of my favorites, I've watched it twice. The second time I ignored the second season though, the real ending for me is the director's cut after the end of the first one.

Yeah, yeah, love the show, watched it so much that I am actually kind of bored with it. L rocks, cant stand Mellow.

Filled a boxset of the series, and have the figures of Sidoh and the shinigami king.

Seen a bit of the movies, and own L: Change the World.

I watched the anime a couple months ago. I loved it. I watched the whole series in about a week because it was so awesome (lousy school took me away from it lol).

I really liked the voice acting, especially for L (my favorite character, no surprise).

It is impossible to not love L.

One of the things that fascinates me about the series is that it manages to make the protagonist someone I hate, but not have it detract from the experience! Exceptionally well done.

SPOILERS just in case I guess. I don't think I need to put that but whatever.

I'm talking about the anime, I never read the manga, so I don't know how different they are. But did anyone else hope that Light would get away with everything like I hoped?

SPOILERS AHEAD

Well, My preferred ending would have been what you say. The director's cut is the closest to it. My problem is, I didn't like those Mello and Near guys. If Kira was supposed to lose, I'd really have preferred that L was the one who defeated him, instead of those two guys.

Yeah, I didn't like Near and I hated Mello.

Death Note is one of the few anime series I've really enjoyed. I've made numerous attempts to get into anime since it seems like something I could easily become obsessed over and there's so much out there if you enjoy it, but it rarely manages to hook me.

Although the live action films pale in comparison to the series (they'd be SO much better if someone edited in the original soundtrack) I did prefer the movie ending more since L was actually involved (although I thought the ending of the 1st movie was just a shallow imitation of the type of cleverness that the series exhibited).

Another live action? I hope they do better CGI on the shinigami if so. The animation in the first ones didn't exactly ruin it for me, but it certainly was a distraction.
