When I was a kid, I thought Back to the Future Part II was even better than the first movie, and Back to the Future Part III was "the bad one." These days, in addition to finding the first movie the best of the trilogy, I find myself preferring Part III to Part II, but I know that a lot of people disagree.

Both sequels have their good points, for different reasons.

Part II: the multiple time-travel paradoxes and changes to the timeline fascinated me to no end. Stuff like that (alternate universes, huge changes that can result from one tiny alteration in the past) falls into my "special interest" category.

Part III: satisfying conclusion to the whole thing (Doc meets the love of his life--in another time--what does that say about him?) and a very uplifting "moral": THE FUTURE IS WHAT YOU MAKE OF IT.

Loved the entire trilogy. Own it, watch the movies quite frequently.

I loved Part II when I was a kid, but when I watched them as an adult I could see the director/writers wasted a lot of time just trying to get Jennifer Parker out of the way.

Part III didn't have such problems. I did, however, hear that they had to spend a lot of time on the phone with ZZ Top's manager trying to explain to him that they could not use the ZZ Top car as the time machine in Part III.

I think all three are good. I like II best, but III has its moments. I particularly love the humor in all three movies. I also own the boxed set.
My favorite part of II is the hoverboard chase. And in part III, I still laugh every time I see Buford tell Marty he's going to shoot him at 8:00, because he does all his killing after breakfast. Marty's response?
"7:00. I do all my killing before breakfast."
Fun facts:
1. Doc Brown's house in I and II is actually the "Gramble House", as in Proctor and Gramble, makers of Ivory Soap.
2. Huey Lewis makes a cameo in part I. He's the teacher with the bullhorn.
3. ZZ Top not only recorded "Doubleback" for the movie, they also played it in III as well.
4. Flea from the Red Hot Chili Peppers plays Needles.
