first i just saw an episode in which the killer was portrayed to be i assume " mentally handicapped" but he premeditated his torture/murders and had advanced knowledge of sulfuric acid and how to lure his victims. yet he talked in a way to imply lower intelligence. was this an error on the writer's part?

also one of the detectives(don't know by name) i am assuming is supposed to have aspergers (as in stereotypical aspergers)

They say FBI agent Dr. Spencer Reid has aspie tendencies. They also say that about Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory. But, again, these are fictional characters like Mr. Spock who they also say is aspie-ish.

It sounds like a ploy on behalf of the killer to perhaps lull his victims into a false sense of security. This is my best guess, based on the fact I've got no idea which episode you're talking about.

Perhaps you could find out the episode title or season and episode number, so I can remind myself of the exact episode. If you wanted a better answer.

Google lack of oxygen at birth and autism. It is thought that around 50% of autistic people had breathing complications at birth.

he wasn't autistic though, he was supposed to be intellectually disabled and also a psychopath. i don't know what the writers were thinking.

I was just saying that lack of oxygen at birth can mean someone is disabled, but could still be intelligent
