I like to scour the net for paranormal stuff, since that's one of my locked onto interests. I was on YouTube and I came across a video that was an hour and a half long, called The McPherson Tape 1998. Interesting movie. Come to find out that the version I was watching was a remake of video from '89. Now I don't see any VHS tapes for sale of either version, but after scouring YT that it looked like people were marketing this the very same way The Blair Witch was marketed. Video segments of people talking about this video tape that was found and that the family is nowhere to be found. Did the creators of The Blair Witch Project get inspiration from this? Seems so. This would make an earlier found footage movie. So Blair Witch was really not the first found footage type movie.

Yeah, you're right. No one really disagrees with you there, I remember watching the remake of the McPhearson's Tape on UPN one night with my big sister. Scared us a lot because we thought it was real lol. I think Blair Witch Project is just very well known because so much effort went into playing it up with documentaries etc.
