A kids' movie directed by Martin Scorsese? Hmmm....this should be interesting.

I heard that the movie is produced by Johnny Depp's production company, Nihil Infinitum. I also heard that he himself has a bit part in the movie. So I suppose in a small way, this movie is relevant to my interests.

I'll admit that when I first saw the trailer a few weeks ago, I didn't think it looked very good. So I was surprised when I saw commercials for it where the critics were saying that it was "one of the best films of 2011".

But then again, I didn't think that The King's Speech would be a very good movie either despite what the critics said, and it turned out to be one of my favorites. So with that in mind, I will probably watch Hugo when it comes out on DVD. :)

I honestly don't know much about it, but the adverts looked decent enough. It'll be added to my Netflix list.

I saw this trailer a few weeks ago. My reaction now is the same as it was then:

AHHHHH I CAN'T WAIT I WANT TO SEE THIS MOVIE!! !! ! :D

Sorry for the late reply, but I did see "Hugo" a few weeks ago, and it's not a whimisical fantasy-adventure the trailer is making it out to be. It's actually a mystery-adventure-drama film about the history of cinema and it was very good! :D The actors were great and whole movie looked pretty. If you're a film purtist, I highly recommend "Hugo".

It kinda breaks my heart that people have really undervalued this movie. Like the above post says, the film is WAY more than the trailer makes it out to be. I'll be honest, the movie was kind of a B-lister for me to see at first despite me being a Scorsese fan. But after reading the newspaper reviews and hearing the word-of-mouth mention of it, I went and saw it and was just blown away by how good it was. I easily rank it alongside The Artist as my favorite movie of 2011. I just hope Marty and WB won't be discouraged by the underperformance of the film (by last count, the film's only made $53 million out of a $170 million budget).
