Modern film marketing just blows my mind. This isn't the trailer for the remake of Total Recall. It's the teaser for the trailer. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to "get ready" for a trailer, but that's what this teaser wants me to do. Should I go to the store and get some supplies? Tell me what to do, for God's sake! I want to be prepared.

I expect movie nerds everywhere to respond with their typical negativity, but this is one remake I'm actually interesting in seeing. I like the cast (Bill Nighy! Bryan Cranston!), the premise is sufficiently different from the first movie (no Mars at all this time around), and I dug the director's last movie (Live Free or Die Hard).

Anyway, here's your teaser. I'll post the full trailer here when it's released.

Jazz hands: Recall-recall!

I like the original.

The remake will be typical: younger hotter actors, more explosions, slow motion gunfire, etc...

Lame.

I did really enjoy the original Total Recall. Sometimes remakes are just as good or better than the original and it just depends I suppose. Arnold was just the best in Total Recall, The Running Man, and Terminator. 8)

I wonder if they'll remake the border control scene when he removes his face

Well said! I had a good laugh at that.

I may watch this at home for free someday, but there's no chance I'll pay to watch Colin Farrell in anything. Mediocre acting skills, checkered box office history, and just an overall annoying human being. How does he keep getting lead roles? He must have a very savvy agent.

Like most actors, he's been bad and he's been good. You just have to know where to look. It's easy to say that he sucks based on movies like Daredevil and S.W.A.T., but give something like In Bruges or Tigerland a try and you may come away feeling differently about him.

Agreed. Saw In Bruges, and immediately forgave him for all crappy roles he'd played. He was amazing in it.

I often like most remakes of movies like the remakes of the planet of the ape movies are good but no one can make a remake good enough for the movie total recall.

Am I the only one who thinks it's kind of stupid to have a trailer for the trailer?

The story on which it was based did not go to Mars ("We Can Remember It For You Wholesale"). I hope it's more like that, but to be honest, not much happened (it was written in the 50s or 60s though). Might be interesting to have a look at...

I've heard conflicting claims about whether or not this version is more faithful to the short story. It's certainly more faithful in the sense that nobody goes to Mars this time around, but I doubt they'll go much further than that. They won't adapt the short story's ending, I can tell you that much.

I liked the original, so I'll probably see the remake. Just hope it doesn't disappoint like the remake of A Nightmare On Elm Street.

In Bruges is an underrated gem.

"It's not a tumor, uh..trailer"

It just won't be the same without Arnold.
