I saw Elizabeth R when it was originally screened in the UK in 1971. Have watched reruns of the series a couple of times since. Pretty well done, might these days be regarded as a bit "talky" and basic (looks very low-budget, not unlike the later I Claudius).
I've seen three or four of The Six Wives of Henry VIII episodes, and I've never heard of The Shadow Of The Tower!
For some reason, the scene from Elizabeth R where Mary Queen of Scots' wig falls off as the executioner picks up her severed head, has always stuck in my memory.
