I'm gonna start the list with Adam West and go from there. I left out the actors or actor from the black and white films that I've never seen or heard of. There may be some I miss out because I've either never heard of them or I forgot. FTR I've never actually seen Justice League: The New Frontier or Batman: Year One so I don't know how good or how bad they are.

Christain Bale is just and amazing actor and Christopher Noland is genius. You couldn't ask for a better "team" to pilot the Batman franchise. Although I would that the Batman franchise encompasses more the just the gritty "Dark Knight" style story. So there is definately room for the other more 4 color comic style Batmans out there.

Jeez that's a lot of Batmen. I feel embarrassed that Christian Bale's the only one I've seen, and I don't even like him that much, especially in "The Dark Knight." I like both of his movies so far but I never felt like he was a highlight of them. And I'm not a fan of the gravely Batman voice either.

Adam West, I always wondered why Batman had throat cancer in the Christian Bale movies.

It's difficult to be expressive when you are playing a dark and serious role and I think Bale has expressed Batman very well in certain scenes such as the Interrogation scene. He has also expressed the more tortured side of Batman and how he is questioning his own sense of morality and justice.

BLASPHEMY! Joking aside, i'd rather have Bale bringing a new level of intensity to the character that West could NEVER achieve in his whole lifetime.

I wanted to chose Kevin Conroy, but ultimately i was spoilt for choice, so Bale it was.

Also for those who say Bale can't act. Whatch a movie called "The Fighter". Then watch the end where they show the 2 actual brothers the movie was depicting. It's uncanny how he captured the actual person he was portraying. He literally steals the movie from Marky Mark Walberg.

I like Christian Bale as Batman, but for my favorite I have to go with Kevin Conroy. He has the perfect voice for Batman.

Nobody has said that in this thread. I think Bale is a damn fine actor, he just isn't a good Batman.

Fair enough, i think he's miles better than Keaton, Kilmer, Clooney and West by a country-mile, but it's Conroy who is the fanboy's choice IMO

Conroy is of course the undisputed best. But I personally really enjoy Keaton and place him a bit higher than Bale. Bale is still better than all the rest though.

For me it's Bale, followed by Conroy and Keaton. But to each his own.

My favorite incarnation of Batman is definitely the one from the original animated series. I will always imagine him as the Batman.

Christian Bale is a competent actor as far as I can tell, and I liked Batman Begins, but ever since The Dark Knight I've grown sick of anything pertaining to Christopher Nolan. We have him and Heath Ledger to thank for destroying the Joker.

You can't compare Heath Ledger to Jack Nicholson, they were two completely different Jokers though. Not saying that you are in any shape, but Ledger got under the skin AND the mask.

I actually had Mark Hamill from the 90's cartoon in mind when I thought of a Joker far superior to Ledger and Nolan's, though I do think Nicholson was still better than Ledger.
