I agree that he's one of the better parts of Prometheus. Bishop (Lance Henriksen) is still my favorite android.

I thought David was capable of not only feeling envy and treachery, but also able to act on them (such as with Shaw's condescending boyfriend). And yet, he chose to save Shaw by warning her that the Engineer was coming to kill her. Then takes her to the Engineers planet at the end when she asks him to.
I liked that despite the fact that he has those passive/aggressive hostilities that he isn't supposed to have, he is able to learn to overcome those negative emotions.
Something Aspie-ish about him.

I loved the film and am planning to see it again. Best one since Aliens, IMO. And the best Scott movie since Blade Runner.

And yes, David was great.

He better stay away from my beverages.

I (vaguely) recall something about David saying that when Weyland dies he (David) will then be free. That is, that he had no choice but to obey Weyland, including doing unethical/horrible things, until that day.

Seems to go with the mention/theme in the movie about "a king has his reign and then he dies." And, "children (eventually) want thief parents to die."

Hmm, I wonder if that's what happened with humanity and the Engineers? That humanity eventually stopped seeing them as gods and they didn't like that?

I agree he is cool, a character that I like that he really seems to be a robot built to be like a human, He is curios, almost and like a child trying to please it's parent. I kind of thought of him as a mix of Ash and Bishop, I watched Aliens again last night, and I could see how David's actor had taken inspiration from him, though might still have some preference with Bishop, we did get to see more of what David was thinking.

Had not seen that trailer before, I like how it feels like an actual commercial for a computer or the like.

David kind of reminds me of Gerty from the movie MOON. At least as how they're both serving their corporate masters despite inner thought processes based on either ethics or logic that make them want to help someone they're supposed to be victimizing.

David though does jump through ethical hurdles. It's interesting how he puts the question to Holloway about how far he would be willing to go to get his answers. Holloway answers "Anything and Everything." Maybe David did that as a weird personal preference that if Holloway stated he was willing to do anything that that might include a surprise in his drink.
