Weren't the Cubs to have won the World Series by now or something? I think the depictions of 2012 are quite accurate. It's quite the dystopia.

It was the year 2015 he went to in Part 2 though...not 2012.

The depiction wasn't completely off, but some things were laughable...Japan being the dominant economic powerhouse, flying cars, lawyers being abolished? All pretty far-fetched concepts, given what we know now.

I hope for his sake he wasn't thinking that plutonium would be in abundant supply by now. It's probably harder to get now than it was in '85.

As far as accurate predictions, at least they were right about Miami getting a baseball team. (although the Cubs couldn't beat them to win the Series since they're both in the NL)

It's nearly 2015 and I see no hover car, hover boards, mini pizzas, microwaves turning them big and 80's nostalgia cafes with celebrity waiters. Chop Chop.

Okay, let's take a quick inventory on what we DO have today that they did have in BTTF2:
-Miami with an MLB team
-electronic fund transfers (although not w/ thumbprint ID yet)
-obsolete arcade machines
-widescreen TVs with hundreds of channels
-personal HUDs (okay, Google Glass is still in development, but it exists)
-video conferencing (Skype, Facetime, etc.)

That's all I can remember off the top of my head.

very few can predict the future with any accuracy.

FWIW the predictions in BTTF2 were meant to be over-the-top and funny. Zemeckis knew that if he tried to make an accurate prediction of 2015, his predictions, and thus the movie, would quickly become dated.

Still, he correctly predicted that the '80s would be the new "throwback" decade. I'll bet dollars to donuts there is an 80's nostalgia cafe somewhere with a Wild Gunman arcade machine playing "Beat It" on the radio right now.

"You mean you have to use your hands? That's like a baby's toy!" Kinect, anyone?

That was really cool a Nintendo game was shown in the cafe 80s. They also predicted that Michael Jackson would be dead by then since he was shown talking on that computer screen in the cafe 80s.

Well actually hoverboards were being developed at sometime and were going to go out on the market but moms' thought that their children would get seriously hurt from them and so they never came out. When Marty goes to 2015 you have to remember that it is the 80's version of what 2015 will look like.
