This is like a game. I'll begin with Matt Damon.

He began as a anti-semite (School Days) who was then disowned by his family after getting kicked out of a prestigious university. He was forced to become a janitor at a Boston university (Good Will Hunting) where he spends his nights solving incredibly difficult math problems. His talents are eventually recruited by the CIA, and later he joins a top secret black-ops task force. (The Borne Identity) During a routine mission his memory, and subsequently genius level math IQ are lost. In the commotion to find out who he is he meets and falls in love with a woman. (The Bourne Supremacy) Years later she is killed by assassins. He begins helping the agency director track down and expose the clandestine operation he was formerly attached to, in exchange for leaving him alone. (The Bourne Ultimatum) Years later he marries and has two children. His wife dies and to help his children cope with the loss he buys a zoo. (So We Bought A Zoo)

You try!

Johnny Depp started out as an artificial life form with scissors for hands (Edward Scissorhands). His curiosity about the world and the workings of the human body led him to become a constable in a small American village at the turn of the century, where he came face-to-face (no pun intended) with the Headless Horseman (Sleepy Hollow). The adrenaline rush from facing supernatural threats was so great that he decided to seek adventure on the high seas and become a pirate (Pirates of the Caribbean).

After getting in trouble with the English government for his piracy, he decided that he needed to go undercover as a candy-maker (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). However, the government busted him for hiring illegal immigrant workers so he was sent to a prison in Australia, where the years, no doubt, had changed him - into a bloodthirsty murderer and cannibal (Sweeney Todd). After a near-death experience, he was still crazy but no longer wanted to kill people, so he decided to try his hand at hat-making (Alice in Wonderland). However, a love-life gone bad led to circumstances that turned him into a vampire (Dark Shadows).

Milla Jovovich has started off as a sex object in poorly written sci fi pieces, and has stayed the same ever since.

Joan of Arc was a Sci-Fi sex object? Actually that kind of makes sense...
