Okay I don't exactly like Jem that much. I'm just saying that I've recently seen the show on You Tube and for a girl's show it's not that bad. Girl shows like My Little Pony and Strawberry Shortcake are just that stupid and annoying (for boys and smart girls at least) but Jem is sort of different. Aside from the plot about a 80's girl band with an advanced computer as their stylists, they also deal with real life issues such as abandonment, family issues, lovelifes, death and even drugs. One of the strangest things I like to do is to go on You Tube and play something thats kinda girly and then access another tab and go on You Tube again and play something to overshadow the other thing e.g Transformers over Jem which is kinda how I got to know more about Jem which I was aware existed years ago due to some You Tube videos of old cartoon intros. The reason that I would play something from Transformers (Dare, The Touch etc) over Jem is mostly because both shows are from the same company and I would be suprised if there was a bit of countinuity. I don't think it was ever intended for the 2 shows to co-exist in the same universe but think about it, the Holograms computer Synergy was ahead of it's time and I wouldn't be suprised if part of Synergy came from the Autobot Ark when it crashed into the volcano and probably having some parts fall off and being buried underground for all those decades. Plus Synergy can create holographic images just like the Autobot named Hound. There was even a three page fanart comic bridging the two shows together. All and all Jem is okay for a girl show but if I grew up in the 80's watching this it wouldn't wanna make me buy the toys for obvious reasons. But still, it's kinda really stupid at times. There's bad dialouge, weird music videos and songs, dumb unlikeable characters(the purpled hair boyfriend mostly) but it's okay I guess. Transformers on the other hand is 100 times better, despite having some of the same problems as Jem minus the songs and music videos. Most of the characters are likeable with the exception of the humans. I would choose Sam and Mikaela anyday over Spike and Sparkplug. Hell even the characters in Jem are more likeable, but not that much. I hope people don't think less of me for watching a show like this. I mean ask yourself would you rather watch this or something even more stupid like My Little Pony or Hanna Montana. Like many other people I prefer the cartoons that are for people of my gender. There are so many of them and they would all kick Jem's ass.

There's nothing wrong with that. Im a 29 yr old girl who likes 'boys' toons like GI Joe and Transformers and Im totally ok. There were strong female characters in these shows which appealed to females (Scarlett, Lady Jaye, Arcee) If you want to write a cross over fic of Jem/TF go for it! I'd read it. Love Jem as well my favourite character is Stormer I relate to her so well.

Like you two guys, I am a Transformers worshipper. Yet, when I was 15 years old, I was addicted to Sailor Moon reruns. To the point where my classmate/friend had to remind me that it was not only a kids' show but a girls' show at that, and I just didn't care. I was enjoying it even if I wasn't the target audience, it's called expanding your horizons.

Hell maybe I'll check out Jem, which I've never seen. I'm into surprises these days.

I went on wikipedia to find out who the voice actors are. Did you know that Synergy was voice by Optimus Prime's girlfriend Elite 1 and Jem was voiced by Elita 1's former mode named Ariel. Also the villain named Eric Raymond is voiced by Charles Adler who voiced Silverbolt in the G1 cartoon and Starscream in the live action movie trilogy. He is also known for voicing screechy voiced characters like Cow and Chicken, Buster Bunny from Tiny Toons and Dr Doom from The Superhero Squad Show. The character Stormer is voiced by Susan Blu who played Arcee in the movie and season 3 of Transformers. The character Riot is suprisingly voiced by Michaelangelo of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

That's interesting. But then you did say Jem was made by the same creators as Joe and Transformers, so it makes sense for them to mploy the same recording studio/voice director/actors. I just read Dan Gilvezan (the guy who voiced Bumblebee and 80s Spider-Man) was also involved in Jem.

I just wanna make one thing clear and say that I don't like Jem, but as a fan of the Transformers cartoon I find it interesting and it's okay and I would rather watch Jem than stupid dumbass shows like My Little Pony. It would have been cool if they did a crossover of the two shows. Couldn't you just hear the Holograms sing the Touch and if Eric Raymond and the Misfits think they're bad just wait until they meet the Decepticons. The Cons should somehow for some reason meet them and the Cons should mistreat them kinda like the Utrom Shredder did to the 80's Shredder and Krang in Turtles Forever.

I said before the stupid character named Riot was voiced by Michaelangelo(Townsend Coleman) from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but some of the voice actors from that same show have also been on Jem. For example there was an episode where the Holograms were transported back in time and they met Motzart(or Beethoven) and he was voiced by Cam Clarke the voices of Leonardo and Rocksteady and also Rob Paulsen the voice of Raphael lent his voice a cople of times I believe. he also played Yakko on Animaniacs and Pinky on the same show plus the spin off Pinky and the Brain. I swear you could hear Peter Cullen's voice on the show as well sometimes. Cullen is of course known for his roles as Optimus Prime and Ironhide in the original Transformers and for reprising the role in the live action movie trilogy and the new CGI cartoon titled Transformers Prime which hasn't broadcasted in my region yet. I'm guessing Frank Welker was on the show as well. Welker is known for making animal noises in cartoons and films. If you ever see a cartoon dog barking it is probably Welker. He's also voiced characters who talk like Fred from Scooby Doo, Dr Claw from Inspector Gadget and Nibbler from Futurama. But to me Transformers is his stronghold as he provided the voices of Megatron, Galvatron, Soundwave, Rumble, Frenzy, Ravage, Laserbeak, Skywarp, Mirage and various others.

Neat, I loved Jem when I was growing up. Since they started airing reruns lately I've been recording them but I haven't watched them yet. I'm almost afraid I'll like it too much. lol. When I was a little girl I had a bunch of the cassette tapes and all of the songs memorized and everything (not to mention the dolls, of course).

There was one episode where Jerrica wanted to tell her boyfriend Rio that she was Jem. In the show Rio is in love with both of them and cheating on them. While trying to tell him two guys who Jerrica's sister Kimber was dating seperately where fighting and Rio gives Kimber a hard time by saying that it was wrong to decieve both of them and he says that he hates lies and deception. DOES ANYONE SEE WHAT FRICKING HELL IS WRONG WITH WHAT HE'S SAYING?

FYI: Again like to point out that I'm a guy who watches Jem because it's interesting and I'm not a fan despite the fact that I kinda learned some of the characters names and some of their backgrounds. Maybe deep down I really do like Jem, but because I'm a guy I'm kinda embarrised to admit it. But lets just say if the show ever came out on DVD I would never buy it because I'm not that desperate. Ninja Turtles, Transformers OH HELL YEAH.

I like Ninja Turtles and thought Jem was good for a girls' show too. But I wouldn't admit that openly outside of this forum, lol. And a male version of Jem, it would be one of the worst flops in TV's history.

On the Nostalgia Critics lookback of the first 5 episodes of TMNT he mentions that he loves it when the Shredder is just a whiney b***h, thats when he's the funniest. I do actually agree with that, in fact I kinda like it when other cartoon villains are whiney like the Decepticons or Rita Repulsa and Lord Zedd (their not cartoon villains by the way) and I kinda like it when Pizzaz of the misfits is a whiney b***h, she and the Shredder should have a whiney b***h contest.

I used to watch it all the time, on channel 20 (a then-independent station), and on USA Cartoon Express.

If there was ever a possibility of a crossover between Transformers G1 and Jem, then which Autobots do you think should appear? On the show in the first two seasons there are an unlimited number of them, but they don't all appear in every episode, so there should probably be five of them because in many Transformers incarnations there are usaully five to begin with. Here's my possible choices

Optimus Prime (Obviously)
Bumblebee (You see him alot now, so it makes sense)
Jazz (Being a music lover you have to have him there)
Hound (The plot would obviously centre around the Holograms computer Synergy who can create holograms which is also what Hound can do)
Wheeljack (He's a scientist and if something happened to Synergy he would have his toolbox ready)

Other favourite characters like Ironhide and the Dinobots should probably show up but the five above should be the main focus.

I don't think I like Jem that much, also I live in the UK.
