Hated both, but Adam was the lesser evil. I'll explain why.
Adam: His behaviour is rather absurd, and I couldn't understand her part of the story. They could have left that out altogether, because it seemed to have very little to do with the rest of the movie and it seemed to serve as a device to fill time. The movie did not seem to be going anywhere, and his behaviour really did frustrate me. The end of the movie was equally frustrating, because the plot did not actually lead up to something. The actors seemed to have very little understanding of what Asperger's syndrome was, and seemed to have combined social awkwardness with eccentricity and an obsession with science. Unfortunately for them, it did not work at all.
Mozart and the Whale: The entire movie confused me. Adam's plot was comprehensible though poor, but this movie's plot went in all directions and ended up absolutely nowhere. The beginning should be a moment of shame for everyone with Asperger's syndrome. Even the most socially awkward on this forum must have felt a little frustrated with the car scene. Then, it turns out he also has a stereotypically-convenient obsession with numbers. At that point, I had already internally condemned the movie, but I convinced myself to keep watching. The rest was even worse. There was absolutely no sense in the plot, and where Adam seemed to be a drama with a self-imposed layer of awkwardness and eccentricity, this movie seemed to be a failed romantic comedy with the support group as laugh-at-the-retard material to make up for the uninteresting characters and incomprehensible plot.
