Anyone looking forward to this programme's return on Tuesday? I am and can't wait.

Absolutely . It's by far one of the best series the BBC has brought out for a long time. It reminds me of my childhood (now that dates me! ).

Shame this is the last series they're going to do

I think two series will be about enough.

Actually, anyone who is interested in this sort of stuff would do well to check out the Charley Says double DVD set. Some good public information films on there - they were quite incredibly patronising in their day but the stuff we have these days is, in many ways, worse.

Maybe you're right. Sometimes they can flog an idea to death.

I read that John Simm hardly got to see his kids at all filming this so he almost didn't do the second series.

The trailer looks amazing! It's funny because I've never liked any other cop series but I can't get enough of this.

I've never liked hoops, even when shaped like postman pat's head. Did they have Alphabites in 1973? Food is always more fun when shaped into something artificial.

The best thing about 1973 (well, not specifically 1973 but I couldn't say when since I was yet to be born) was tank tops. They look good on anyone. Has John Simm worn a tank top yet? I don't know if it would go with his leather jacket.

Were you around in 1973 Tequila? My in-laws-to-be were but they remember none of it as they are odd. My mum was 14 so she was probably busy snogging married men.

I wasn't born for another 15 years after 1973. I think it's probably the sort of time period that you might like to visit for a day but after that you'd quite like to go 'home', ta very much.

For some reason I assumed you were older than me but in fact you are my little brother's age. It's funny because my first thought was "But he goes to the pub!" and then I remembered that my brother's been going to the pub for years! I clearly still think that my brother is a baby - a drug-taking violent baby .

I was just thinking about living in those days. Or the Victorian times. It all seems so wondrous for about two minutes and then you remember that it was probably s**t. Can I say that here or is mild swearing not allowed? The lack of central heating would bother me too now I live with wealthy people who have all the mod-cons.

Actually, thats not literally true i watched a news channel for about 10 mins once but im not counting that as it was for a visitors benefit.

I don't think you'll have any problems swearing here. As long as it's not too offensive, I don't think anyone really minds as long as you use it sparingly and don't start swearing in every sentence.

And I reckon going back any more than about twenty years would be very difficult to do and hard to cope with. I wouldn't mind going to the 1950s though in all my modern clothes.
