I'm in the mood for a funny movie. Recommend one.

I think that the funniest ever was Eurotrip. It got me laughing harder than any other of which I can think.

all the newer movies leave me cold, in terms of humor which is mostly crass and not generally that clever even. for humor, i have to travel back in time to before the 90s. "smokey and the bandit" never fails to tickle me, it was crass but also clever in many ways, some not obvious. then there is "freebie and the bean" which is outright crazy :lmao: also, in a horror vein of morbid humor, there is "reanimator" which made me scream and howl- with laughter! that's all i can think of, for now.
OH! how could i forget "paint your wagon"? that was a scream that was also an offbeat musical that was bent in its own way.
and i keep remembering other ones now, darn it  one MUST give "it's a mad mad mad mad world" a chance, it is one of those "steeplechase" kind of comedies that starred everybody that was anybody in hollywood back in the day. "dr. strangelove (or how i stopped worrying and learned to love the bomb)" would have to be the blackest comedy ever filmed, but it is also well worth watching. then there is peter seller's last real pink panther film, "the revenge of the pink panther" which is about as funny as "a shot in the dark" - consider watching them both. "star trek IV" was also about the funniest of the TOS movies, it had a real schtick going on between kirk and spock. i better stop now before i stay up all night long.

I remember Monty Python and the Holy Grail being the first movie I laughed so hard at that I couldn't breath and started crying... twice (The rabbit part and the part where Lancelot stormed the swamp castle).

I think the most laugh-out-loud movie in more recent memory has been Sideways (even though it has some pretty depressing parts as well).

Here are some that are good for a laugh:
The Mask (my all-time favorite -- Ssssssmokin'!)
City Slickers 1 and 2
Mel Brooks' History of the World, part 1 (you must be at least 18 or older to see this one, it's rated R)
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (both the Jim Carrey version and the TV special)
All of Me (Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin are in it, it's from the '80s)
Monster-in-Law
Click
Yes Man
Mr. Deeds
Get ready to laugh!

One of the funniest movies I've seen is "My Mother Likes Women" or "A mi madre le gustan las mujeres."

I laugh every time I watch it.

The funniest movie that I've recently seen was Due Date with Robert Downey Jr. Other than that, I can only think of Bad Santa (or Badder Santa, the unrated DVD version), Uncle Buck (a bit dated, but still funny) and of course the funniest classic of all times, The Odd Couple. Speaking of Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau, Grumpy Old Men wasn't half bad either.

Edited to add: Wag the Dog and Thank you for Smoking are great too, especially if you're into political / social satire.

I agree with Roger Ebert: "Top Secret!" (1984) is the funniest movie ever.

It's hard recommending a good comedy since it has to be the most subjective genre in all of film. What's funny to you might not be funny for someone else. But with that said, here are my personal 10 funniest comedies:

-Blazing Saddles
-Young Frankenstein
-Monty Python & The Holy Grail
-Airplane!
-Bull Durham
-When Harry Met Sally
-Office Space
-Blues Brothers
-Groundhog Day
-Ghostbusters

Monty Python's The Life of Brian is a good choice. And don't listen to the haters, The Hitch-Hikers' Guide to the Galaxy movie is still a good one.

Always thought The Holy Grail was funnier than Life of...
