It seems that, for some reason, many people with Asperger's seem to respond very well to newspaper comic strips. I'm not entirely sure why this is, but it seems to be the case.

I myself am a huge comic strip nerd. I probably own at least 100 different volumes- mostly Calvin and Hobbes, Foxtrot, Baby Blues, Zits, and Garfield, but also some Far Side, Bloom County, Brevity, Speedbump, Mutts, Herman, Boondocks, and Stone Soup.

Anybody else have a favorite? Or (like me), several favorites?

I'm with you on Calvin and Hobbes and Zits (though I don't have any collections of the latter). I sometimes like Sherman's Lagoon and For Better or For worse isn't bad. I pretty much grew up on C&H, though, and have almost every strip!!

I'm a fan of Garfield.

Is it me, or does it seem to you that Jon Arbuckle, Garfield's owner, is an Aspie?

Now that you mention it, that would explain the communication he has between him and Garfield, especially noting that Garfield only speaks in thought bubbles...

...it also makes Garfield Minus Garfield a lot more...well, Idk, you decide!!

Also, the movie Ted may give you an impression that it's C&H as adults, especially the relationship between Ted, the talking stuffed animal, and his human, John.

My thing would be, if you like comic strips, have you ever looked at Manga?

Manga is very different from comic strips. Many comic strips are meant to be funny with each strip, and that's not the case for manga. It's a really different format. That said, I've read some interesting mangas, though it's not exactly my thing.

Ooh- did I forget to mention Cul de Sac? Now THERE'S a strip with a character on the spectrum!

Zits is my favorite comic strip. I don't even like most of them but I'll always go to the comics section anyway just to read it. I also like Pearls before Swine and Calvin and Hobbes.

He always wears the same outfit, has only one friend, stares into space a lot, collects stamps, and talks to his cat in a meaningful way, so yeah, that sounds fair.

I have all the Calvin and Hobbes books, and still like them, but I know them all so well I don't read them so often, just mentally refer back to them in appropriate situations!

I liked Peanuts when I was younger, but it doesn't seem as funny now.

It's good to have comics that still have new material being written - Dilbert is good.

And I know you referred to newspaper comics, but I do like some webcomics too, like XKCD and RandomWebComic (especially the Star Wars themed ones)

I love "Get Fuzzy". When I was a kid I used to every comic strip in the paper, even the boring "soap opera" comics like "Mary Worth" and "Judge Parker".

One of my co-workers, a good 'ol boy engineer, older than me, really loved "Luann". I thought that was a little weird for a middle-aged man.
