I'm curious, is it quite common? When my new psychologist asked me about what tv and film I like, I told her*, and she seemed very interested in it.

*Dad's Army
Fawlty Towers
Thin Blue Line
Battle of Britain
Italian Job
2.4 Children
Only Fools and Horses
Etc.

My favorite tv shows include:

Burns and Allen
The Jack Benny Show
Red Skelton (his hour long variety show from the 60s that hasn't been shown again in many years)
Last of the Summer Wine
Taxi
Green Acres
Hawaii 5-0 (the first series, I detest the current series)
and the various Law & Order series.

As for movies, I generally prefer older movies. A great many movies, especially many of the newer movies, only last about 5-10 minutes before I switch channels or turn the tv off. As for categories of movies, I generally prefer musicals, westerns, and mysteries. I detest horror movies.

My younger brother doesn't have Asperger's (though he does have some traits) and loves old movies, especially those starring Humphrey Bogart. He thinks most movies after the 60s are garbage and detests modern-day music. He's got an old soul, that's for sure.

I love old movies and TV shows. I much prefer them to newer ones. I consider Hollywood's golden age to be roughly 1935-1975....I wouldn't be surprised if aspies are disproportionately interested in older film...

Cary Grant
James Stewart
Audrey Hepburn
Alfred Hitchcock
Mary Tyler Moore Show
Columbo
Bewitched

Just a few of my favorites

I love old films and stuff! Especially Dad's Army and old musicals like Annie Get Your Gun, Guys and Dolls, Oliver!, My Fair Lady.

I would never have said that it was linked to Autism. I don't know though, it just never even crossed my mind

I prefer the classics.
I even go as far as to say that I prefer "Pygmalion" with Dame Wendy Hiller as "Eliza" over "My fair Lady". And I consider My Fair lady to be an inferior remake.

I love anything with Cary Grant or Katharine Hepburn. Both together, Smashing!

I could probably watch "Bringing up Baby" indefinitely and laugh every time.

In the '70s, I used to like to watch old TV shows and pretend it was the '50s. I'd even turn the radio to the oldies station and put on what I thought were '50s-looking clothes. Sometimes I'd even turn the color off so all the commercials would be in black-and-white.
