Doritos Ad
My neighbor. J.D., asked me to help him shoot a spot for Frito Lay's "Crash The Super Bowl" contest. This is his spot. My work involved most of the technical stuff; photography, editing compositing animations with live action, sound effects etc. J.D. was responsible for character design and animation. In the end, to some extent, we co-directed it.
If you'd like to see the spot, unfortunately I can't provide a direct link, but if you click on the link below and then search for "Jana Pavini" it should get you there. At any rate, the image for the video is of a woman (Jana) glaring angrily at a blue clay figure. The title is "Dorito Demon" Searching for "Jana" will get you there as well, but there are a few other Janas who have entered.
Crash The Superbowl Doritos Contest <--- Click on this link then search for "Jana Pavini"
I'd like to hear what you think.
Thanks.

Very good animation! What's troubling is Jana's angry face. Commercials, I've noticed, are like this - they want a character to be angry, but they don't necessarily what that anger shown as it may turn people off from the product itself. An example of this, for instance, is the Allstate commercial where someone's car rolls down a hill, or another person's car gets the driver side door hit right off, or even the commercial where the wife comes back from grocery shopping and her husband opens the can of soda which explodes in his face. You don't see the anger. The faces remain neutral. It doesn't sell well. Just a thought.
