Why Star Trek fans do not like "Where My Heart Will Take Me" Star Trek Enterprise Intro?

In my opinion is really nice inspirational song.

The answer to this is quite easy: fans were used to Star Trek series having a 'majestic'-feel, orchestra piece. 'Enterprise' broke with the tradition by having a soft-rock song w/ lyrics as its theme, so that was a bit difficult to integrate.

Compare the themes to TNG, DS9, and Voyager.

I was mostly okay with the 'Enterprise' theme, though I wouldn't call myself a fan of it.

What Cyclops said basically. Pretty sure everyone can remember the original series and TNG themes without trouble.

The Enterprise theme-song got better in season 3 when it changed to a remixed version with faster beat, etc. The stupid part is how the show was simply called "Enterprise" in seasons 1 and 2, when it should've been called Star Trek:Enterprise from day one. :?

I completely forgot they remixed the song after a few seasons. I do remember, however people saying the latter seasons of the show were much better overall.

It doesn't fit Star Trek at all. As already said, every other series and movie has an orchestral intro with a grandiose feel.

Especially the last season i watched all star trek except the Original Series.

The ENT 4th season was the best it's piety that ST:ENT was cancelled. Only on think was piss my off, that producers killed Trip Tucker.

I disagree. IMO, it made perfect sense for ENTERPRISE--the very beginning of exploration, right after First Contact with the Vulcans--the spirit of optimism and REALLY exploring "strange new worlds", with almost no knowledge of what was out there--"faith" that this could actually happen needed to be expressed. :)

I agree that killing Trip in the 4th season was completely unnecessary, no matter which way the series was headed.

Yep in the 22nd century humans might very well still listen to music very similar to our own The 23rd/24th century could be a different story though.

Because it was so bland. I got together with some friends to watch the very first episode and we were all like, "what are we listening too?" We hoped it was just a bad idea for the pilot and would change for episode 2 and beyond, but no.

DS9 had the worst though. It was like all the other themes dying in their sleep.

But that would be like saying that we today listen to music very similar to the music of the 1860s. Which, last time I checked, is not so.

Orchestral music in the Romantic style has been used so widely that it now has a timeless feel. A movie or show can be set in biblical times, or in a high-tech future, and a symphonic score will not seem anachronistic. After forty-odd years, the TOS theme still sounds pretty good -- the non- Romantic elements, the bongoes or whatever they are, are the oddest thing about it.

Popular music, on the other hand, is very much tied to a certain time. Just look at all the movies and TV shows that use a snippet of Glenn Miller or Chuck Berry to indicate what decade they are set in. I suspect that in a few decades the ST:E theme will seem horribly dated.

When I first saw it I thought it was totally appropriate. The narrative followed on from Star Trek - First Contact. The inventor of the warp drive, Jebediah Cochrane, was into rockabilly and rock and roll and similar, so why not a bland, insipid rock ballad to launch the first adventures of humans in the Federation. Of course, no one else agrees lol

@MannyBoo: good one. :) I liked the mirror universe story.
