What about it??

Sissy Spacek is a pretty good actress.

I am a WV coal miner's daughter.

I have known quite a handful of girls who lived that life, marrying a little later (16) and minus the stardom part.

It doesn't bother me.

What does bother me is the idea that that culture is something to be ashamed of. I came from there. I'd go back if I could do it without choosing between throwing away the only man who's ever loved me or forcing him to live a life he doesn't want.

Hillbilly isn't an insult, no matter how often it's used as one. It's a high compliment that few rise to earn.

I used to like it but now I am embarrassed I ever did and it gets on my nerves.

It's one of my favorite movies. What's embarrassing about it? It's not "Amadeus" but it shows a slice of life. I especially like when Loretta says "spread me up one of them bologne sandwiches" and her husband can't get out of the car fast enough to get her to stop talking. I could go on....

It's just so opposite of what I am. You are right, it's an interesting look at something different.
