I've taken a huge interest in 2d animation and just wanted to know if anyone else took on the same interest. :) Specificly the genre of cartoon that I prefer is the black comedies. Which, usually is a cartoon that has characters, settings or sometimes gruesome acts that are looked upon as freaky or gross. However the amount of humor or freakiness can range, depending on the directors and writers. Some examples of Black Comedies are the well known shows: Invader Zim, Courage the Cowardly Dog and The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy. All have their own level of gruesomeness. :cyclopsani: Personaly I found Courage The Cowardly Dog the most freaky cartoon. But, you know, it was what it was.

I've just grown up with this genre and enjoy very much. Don't get the wrong inpression that I'm a dark person. I'm not. Maybe a streak but not fully. Heh heh, I sometimes have to keep myself in check though, make sure i'm not going too far. But OKAAAAY, back to tha subject! Just if your interested in the whole animation, character illustrating, voice acting, yatta yatta yatta, type up a comment.

Have you ever seen the internet cartoon series Happy Tree Friends? It gets gruesome and pretty gorey and downright disturbing, but it's so hilarious!

I would say that I am a fan, as long as it is not gore porn. I am a fan of Invader Zim, I have both seasons on DVD, and I am also a fan of the cartoon Archer which has some hillarios parts.

I am a fan of a small studio refered to as FilmCow, which has a youtube channel called SecretAgentBob, which has such gems as Charlie the Unicorn, and Lamas with hats:

Trying to think of some anime I can recall Kore wa Zombie Desu ka? (Is this really a zombie?), comedy filled with magical girls and zombies.
A fabulous kick

And the anime Haiyore Nyaruko-san, it kind of happens when you have Lovecraftian monsters taking the form of cute people.

Harry Partridge does some bloodier ones, and he hates his characters, but he manages to be pretty humorous about it. Plus for being hand animated by one guy. And not everything he does is too even sadistic or gory. (like Saturday Morning Watchmen)

Also I thought Burn After Reading was hilarious. Of is that too bleak?

I'll see your Burn After Reading, (which is hilarious BTW), and raise you Kiss Kiss Bang Bang.

Yes, I really like that kind of cartoon. A particularly good one is Sam & Max:

I'm unfamiliar with Daria and Metalocalypse and I don't watch South Park. :( as for King of the Hill....I didn't know if it is labeled as a black comedy. I can't picture it being so. :?
