OBLIVION..and other upcoming sci fi films
I was merely watching the Hobbit recently and was surprised to be swamped by a slew of futuristic--or mind-bending, at least--films coming the way of us movie lovers soon this year, or at least this summer. If you've been keeping tabs on more of the sci fi stuff, what's everyone personally wanting to see?
OBLIVIONNNNNNNN...
Elysium - Neil Blomkamp's follow up to the criminally underrated District 9 sounds really interesting. It's the year 2159 and 2 classes of people exist. The rich and wealthy live on the titular pristine space-station, while the rest of civilisation's poor and less fortunate have been abandoned on an overpopulated and ravaged Earth. Jodie Foster plays a hard-nosed government official keeping anti-immigration laws enforced to preserve the rich lifestyle, but an unlucky con (Matt Damon) is forced to undertake a mission that will bring equality to both the rich and the poor.
Looking forward to it

Star Trek Into Darkness-Next to Man of Steel this'll be the big one for me. I've never ever seen anything with Benedict Cumberbatch's name attached to it but judging by what I'm seeing in the trailer he does sound pretty awesome with that voice. Also I don't know if his character is suppose to be human or another alien lifeform but I'm guessing maybe human or maybe he's one of those genetic superstrong people like Khan but even if he is human it would be kinda interesting to see a normal human being be the villain in a Star Trek movie. In the past there have been human villains on any Star Trek show but this'll probably be the first human villain in a movie.
Star Trek: The Motion Picture - V'ger (Machine)
Star Trek II: the Wrath of Khan - Khan (Superhuman)
Star Trek III: the Search for Spock - Kruge (Klingon)
Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home - no villain
Star Trek V: The Final Frontier - Sybok (Vulcan)
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country - Chang (Klingon)
Star Trek: Generations - Soran (El-Aurian)
Star Trek: First Contact - Borg Queen (Borg)
Star Trek: Insurrection - Ahdar Ru'afo (Son'a)
Star Trek: Nemesis - Shinzon (Clone)
Star Trek - Nero (Romulan)
Star Trek Into Darkness - John Harrison (?)

I'm really looking forward to Star Trek: Into Darkness. The old series has gotten new life breathed into it.

OBLIVIONNNNNNNN...
Oblivion is like Avatar, both are sci-fi films that stole that their names from something else.
When i first heard about Oblivion, I thouht it would be based on The Elder Scrolls 4 oblivion. but in reality it stole the name from the elderscrolls. and had nothing to do with the real oblivion.
Avatar stole it's name from Avatar the last airbender, which is why the last airbender no longer has "avatar" in it's name.

Oblivion is a word, you can't claim ownership of a word (although there have indeed been people that have tried lol). By that logic, the Elder Scrolls may as well have stole their name from Monteverdi's Oblivion Soave, over 400 years earlier. Same with the word avatar, the title/word serves as a description of one of the key concepts from the movie. Perfectly appropriate to use as a title.
*note: I love the Elder Scrolls series, but I don't think it's fair to assume they have a copyright on the word lol.
