Even if a film you really want to see has bad write ups would you still go see it? Sometimes I do it especially if it's a sequel to a movie I already like but sometimes bad reviews might put me off and I just plain forget about it. For example back in 2010 I wanted to see The Last Airbender and I mean really see it because I love Avatar the Last Airbender, however when the reviews came out I just skipped it and to this day I still haven't seen it. Now the new Oz The Great and Powerful movie is coming out and I've been interested in it for a while but recently there have been negative reviews and maybe I'll wait for a couple more reviews but I'm not so sure if I want to go and see it. I mean would you go see it despite the bad reviews, have you ever done anything like this before and came out dissapointed but still do it anyway? I mean there are quite a few movies coming out this year that I really want to see (e.g Iron Man 3, Star Trek Into Darkness etc) and if any of them have bad reviews I still would want to see them.

If it looks interesting or people hate it.. a lot of the time I am the exact 180 to them. ... so if they love it and had rave reviews... I hated it! So you really can never tell without just biting the bullet.

If you hate it at least you still get the popcorn :)

If we turn it around: if a movie got good reviews, but you did not care about it, would you go and see it just because of what others think?

I still haven't seen "Pirates of the Caribeean" for the reason i just described.

Back when Johnny Depp and Tim Burton movies were my special interest, I saw them at the theater whether or not they got bad reviews. I saw Alice in Wonderland, Dark Shadows, and Frankenweenie in theaters. I actually wound up loving Alice in Wonderland (I was pretty obsessed with it for about a year after I first saw it), while I wound up very disappointed with Dark Shadows and agreed with the 32% Rotten Tomatoes score it received. The critics enjoyed Frankenweenie and called it one of Burton's best movies in recent memory, but in my opinion it was just as bad as, if not worse than, Dark Shadows.

Basically, the point I'm trying to get at is that if you are interested in a director, actor, or franchise, you should go see the movies they make regardless of what kind of reviews they get. Sometimes you'll walk away feeling let down (as I was with Frankenweenie and Dark Shadows), but other times you will walk away loving something so much that it becomes an obsession (what happened with me and Alice in Wonderland).

There are some movies that are just so fantastic at being bad, usually intentionally so, that they have no chance of ever getting actual good reviews but are still legitimately entertaining movies even if they are obviously not 'good'.

So yes, I paid to see Snakes on a Plane.

Most of the movies that receive fewest ☆'s on tv guide movie descriptions are usually some of my favs. I don't go by other peoples opinions. I wouldn't however pay to see a movie as I don't like going to the theater.

I really don't give a toss about reviews after all the only thing that matters is that I like it or not.

I payed for a VERY BAD movie once, and in addition I had conjunctivitis. Nothing stops me if I'm interested.

Don't care enough to read reviews; if people talk about something and I have the time, I might as well see it.

I think Prometheus did pretty well considering its bad reviews.

Sometimes a movie will make money no matter what is said of it.

I find reviews most influential when I'm considering a movie for my kids. Some are too scary for the 6-year-old, some would give the 11-year-old too many annoying quotes...

But if we're interested in a movie and there are no additional objections, we go. Sometimes it's just good to get to the theater and seeing something awful gives you even more to talk about after. Seems like there's only so much time you can spend discussing a good movie. Also, Roger Ebert, who I generally agree with, gave a bad review to "How to Train Your Dragon" and I thought it was an incredible movie. I think he had formed his opinion ahead of time, but it was far more than the usual film of its kind, and I think he was too jaded to pick up on its subtler qualities. I didn't see it in the theater, and I wish I had.

Make no mistake, though; you were spot on about "The Last Airbender." If you love the show, I strongly discourage you from seeing the film. They absolutely ruined it. They performed a charm-ectomy. All it had was drama, a rough outline of a story, and some cool martial arts and special effects. But they good stuff wasn't worth it, as much as I wanted to see a real human "bend."

I want to see G.I. Joe: Retaliation next. I've been waiting for this flick to come out for a while. Unfortunatley it's gotten quite alot of bad reviews. I'm not expecting this movie to be something like the Avengers or Skyfall but perhaps a campy action packed over the top movie thats fun to watch. I may regret seeing it but we'll see. Didn't really like the first one by the way.

I have paid to see badly reviewed movies in the past, such as the A Nightmare On Elm Street remake, simply because I wanted to see them. While I've seen some well reviewed movies that were bad, I've found almost all the badly reviewed movies are real stinkers.

If the movie interested me then I would still go see it. I don't pay to see any movie anymore because they have gotten too expensive. I prefer to wait until it comes to DVD and that is still paying to see it. You have to pay to rent it and even if it comes to Netflix, you are still paying to watch it because we pay for the service every month. So yes I would pay to see it.

I feel cheated when I've seen a bad film. Like Prometheus, and Wolfman. But at least I only bought them on DVD when they were going cheap.
