As I said, with my love of the 1980s, no discussion of it I feel is complete w/o talk of this epic series.

It was very amazing, vibrant and all real at the same time. The fashions pretty much defined the whole decade of the 1980s, as did its novel approach of using contemporary pop music in the series. Who wouldn't want to be Crockett or Tubbs, or at least dress like them? :D

While I have not seen the 2006 film remake; it doesn't do the series justice, from what I have heard.

I've never watched the show or the movie remake, but I bought Jan Hammer's album Escape From Television and my favorite song of all time is Crockett's Theme.

I became a fan of NASH BRIDGES in the 1990s and watched some MIAMI VICE episodes as a comparison of sorts. Was Nash just Crockett, but a little older and wiser? Kind of, but he had "grown up" some and was no longer Crockett.

With that being said, NASH's final season was like a throwback to MIAMI VICE--kind of "jumping the shark", IMO, it felt like he was trying to go backwards. VICE was what it was--had some good moments, and was definitely NASH's precursor. However, it should have remained its own show.

(Hope this isn't seen as an attempt to derail the thread.)

Back in high school, I used to watch Miami Vice religiously - till it's final season when I began to have something of a social life, and was out having fun on Friday nights.
