Two fictional characters. One is played by an an over-the-top ham actor, and the other gets along best with robots - not people (guess which is which).

Both live near someone named "Penny", are very egotistical, often boast about their intelligence, and lack certain social skills. Both are grudgingly accepted by the people around them. Both seem to constantly get themselves in trouble, and both speak in arch tones that would make a Gua'uld System Lord jealous. Both display a general lack of humility or empathy, and textbook narcissistic behavior.

The late Jonathan Harris portrayed Dr. Zachary Smith from Lost in Space (the series), and Jim Parsons portrays Dr. Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory.

In some hypothetical crossover fanfic, could these two fictional character be written to seem related, or to even know each other, in a semi-believable way?

Maybe Sheldon, while writing Lost In Space fan fiction falls asleep, and dreams he meets and interacts with Dr. Smith - such as his Star Trek inspired dreams. Then again, I don't know if Sheldon even likes Lost In Space.
