You needn't say more ... the actors that portray them are very talented, and they're wasting themselves on a formulaic, plot-driven sitcom when either one of them could pull off the lead in a Broadway production or a major motion picture.

Yeah, they're wasting their time and talent on BBT.

I have a friend who thinks I'm the female version of Sheldon.

Sheldon opened up the possibility of having "coitus" with Amy. I just want it to happen so bad! And to see where does Sheldon go from there. Would he be horrified by sex? Would he temporarily stop doing physics to dedicate himself exclusively to sex? I'm really looking forward to see the show where it happens. :)

I can see sheldon becoming obsessed with sex but unable to deal with the affection end of it. Maybe this comes from my own persoanl experience. But honestly my obsessions are so all over the place that I am not sure what exactly it is that I am obsessed with

I'm not sure why the TV show's producers/writers forced this relationship on Sheldon. It's not realistic. Based on his behaviours and desires, he'd most likely prefer the company of someone like him, someone like Amy, but a male version. I guess they're just trying to keep it clean and family friendly; still, a gay Sheldon would've made more sense.

Personall, I would prefer an asexual Sheldon, but I feel sorry for Amy. It is more realistic to me for Sheldon to continue shunning physical relationships. Maybe I am projecting. Being to familiar with sheldon, but this does bring memories of my own trauma in this area and the emotional scarring it has created

My money is on Raj being gay. But they'll only do it like in the last season.

Sheldon in one episode had told Leonard and Penny that while physical affection makes him very uncomfortable, the day may come when he takes that step for Amy. Amy certainly wants to. I'm willing to bet, before the series concludes - perhaps on the very last episode (whenever that may be) - Sheldon and Amy will have sex. And Sheldon will love it.

There's a lot of comic potential in Sheldon and Amy having a child together but since they'd probably have to find their own place together that might stretch the format of the show too much.

Actually, the part that doesn't quite make sense (IMHO) is the writers forcing the relationship on to Amy. Or at least I think the writing of Amy is sort of inconsistent or that she evolved in a bit of an unrealistic way. I mean, when she first appears, there's something mentioned like her mom forces her do go out on a date once per year, implying that she doesn't really want to. Which makes no sense because although Amy has been mostly consistently uncomfortable with men other than Sheldon, she clearly has a strong libido and an attraction to men (and, also, to women, at least a hinted-at attraction to Penny) -for instance Amy has been attracted not only to Sheldon, but at one point to one of Penny's dumb beefcake male acquaintances. And at this point it seems like Amy would want someone more sexual than Sheldon, and although she's not the most hip or attractive girl, she's not outright horrible (certainly less awkward than Raj's new flame) and could easily get someone maybe not beefcake hunky, but someone with at least a sex drive and sexual attraction to her.

Isn't it stated that Amy is more than happy with her toothbrush?

I don't think Sheldon's character is any more consistent with a homosexual than a heterosexual. Personally I think it would be the last straw for me if they did have sex, their relationship is already being stretched to the bounds of credibility (e.g. the episode where Sheldon spanks Amy).

Raj being gay would suck because it would reinforce stereotypes. Raj is as straight as they come, he feels sexual attraction towards many women and enjoys sex with women. He has no reason to suddenly start having sex with men other than his camp nature being consistent with gay stereotypes.

Amy's character growth does seem a bit rushed, maybe due to the marriage of Howard and Bernadette, but her sexuality (and bicurious nature) seems much more amplified as of late. Sheldon recently agreed to cuddling, so that is a big step forward, I don't think sex would be too out of the question down the road.

Raj seems straight or at most unknowingly bisexual, mostly due to his attraction to Bernadette and some one-night stands with other women. The attraction to Bernadette could have been a stand in for his relationship with Howard.
