With the topics on characters you feel sorry for and now characters you do not like I thought I would ask if anyone developed a crush on a character.

Oh good, I thought my crush on Romana II (Dr. Who) meant there was something else wrong with me.

Laura Kroft and I'm not even lesbian.

Lister from Red Dwarf.

Ethan Frome

The dead guy from LEXX.

Lieutenant Ripley from the movie ALIEN (another girl!)

Judy Densch when she play "M" in OO7.

There will be many more I'm sure.

No, having a crush on fictional characters doesn't seem to be unusual.
I've never had any crush on an actor/actress, but I have had crushes on specific characters they play, while I have no reaction to other characters played by the same actress.

I find it so much easier to have a crush on a fictional character than a real person.

Kaoru is probably the person I like the most because it is the same whether she an anime character or from the live action version of Kenshin. She is endearing.
The others, it's a mix of the actress and how they play the character. Somewhere in my life, I was able to make the distinction between the actor and the character.
The exception might be Lulu and Louise Brooks. Lulu was Louise Brooks on many levels. It would be a disaster.

If I had to pick one, it would be Kaoru Kamiya, even though Liz Lemon was in all caps. I am a hopeless romantic when it comes to Kaoru and her relationship to Kenshin.

I hope my sons never read this, though they know about Liz Lemon.

I cannot help but wonder how any of us would react if each person were to meet and be asked out by a character listed by that person.

If I did met Romana and she asked me out I would be extremely surprised and would have an extremely hard time communicating which would be terrible because this would be a first contact situation as well, but if she was patient enough to wait until I could respond I would probably say yes.
