I saw an article on Entertainment Weekly about Down Syndrome actors and I have to admit, even I get teared up when I hear their stories of how hard it is to make it as an actor. It'd be hard for a "regular" actor to make it to Tinseltown let alone actors with special needs. I'd like to people with autism make it as actors because that would be a real breakthrough. Dan Aykroyd, Darryl Hannah, Andy Kaufman, and a few others are considered on the autistic spectrum and they are doing WELL for themselves as well as their peers. Chris "Corky" Burke really did make an impact on his own peers so it's time for me to do the same for all the Aspies/HFA people everywhere who want to become something that alot of people believe that we don't belong!

Crispin Glover, who himself is most likely an Aspie, had written and directed a very bizarre move called What Is It, which starred a cast of actors with Down Syndrome, but playing Non-Down syndrome parts.

Nice. It sounds like a movie I wanted to see.

The problem is, Crispin Glover is resistant to releasing What Is It on DVD, as he prefers to tour it through art house theaters throughout the country. Who knows when we can see it.

I was just about to mention this myself, since Crispin Glover is one of my favorite actors.

I can think of two young actors who appear to have Down Syndrome but obviously don't have it
Jesse Plemons who plays Landry on Friday Night Lights, and Lee Norris who Plays Mouth on One Tree Hill.
