Anyone been to a AMC Dine In theatre? Pros? Cons?

I went to a dine-in theatre in Washington DC during the 80s, saw a flick there [name escapes me but it had debra winger in it] and ate a restaurant-quality meal while watching, that was a good experience. there needs to be more such.

There is one in downtown Atlanta, the AMC Fork & Screen Buckhead, but no, I haven't been there as of yet. I don't get to downtown Atlanta as much as I would like to from time to time.

The only theater I really liked was an outdoor theater. You could bring your own lawn chairs if you didn't want to sit on the bleachers or a blanket if you just wanted to sit on the ground.

Note: for those who might think this is a drive-in theater, it wasn't. You had to park on the street, get out of the car, and walk in through the entrance gate.

I had briefly dated a girl from Mississippi years ago who had told me how in her old state, it was common for theaters to have a table in front of each row of seats for the audience to eat while watching the movie.

Yes, I've been to the relatively new one in Marina Del Rey, CA

Pros - food is actually quite good, surprisingly reasonably priced, big comfy seats (much better than any other movie theater I've been to), wide spaces between rows of seats, people get up less since they can order food from their seats

Cons - waiters do their best to bend down when they walk in front of you, but they're still walking in front of you, and ticket prices several dollars more than a regular theater. Also most people tried to keep it to a minimum, but the food comes on glass / ceramic plates, metal utensils, etc. so there is a little bit of noise from that

The Missus and I went to one. Bought our tickets, went in, she looked around and said "no way." We immediately left and got a refund. The reason? She cannot tolerate lights shining in a dark theater, and this one had little lights all over for the waiters to find the steps and get you the food. I'm sure I would found it quite distracting.

Dine in theaters have been around for awhile. Mostly with small theaters though. It's sad that big theaters are barely catching up now. Big PRO is you can get drunk! Big CON is you won't remember the movie!

Didn't need permission when I was younger, snuck in small flasks and enjoyed myself.

I have not been to an AMC one, but I have been to others of that type. I enjoy having a wider selection of foods and beverages. I mean, the nacho cheese at most concession stands is only cheese in a purely technical sense.
