Who knew Tim Allen's Home Improvement was dubbed in German?

I just do a littler search for "Tim Allen Tim Taylor Home Improvement" and this video popped up. Who knew it was dubbed in German? Seriously, I didn't know they showed this in Germany (possibly Austria and Switzerland)?

Happy that this show somewhat put Michigan on the map, even Traverse City/Grand Traverse Bay area (beautiful place), and wore sweatshirts from every university (at state universities, maybe more) in Michigan.

Anyone think his grunt sounds sort of like an Aspie/Autistic grunt??? It reminds of that now that I know I have an ASD(PDD).

This suprise you? It should not, US culture is everywhere.

The combination of three factors TOGETHER of this Michigan-based show surprised me.

1. Shown in Germany.

2. Actually dubbed into German

3. Put on you tube by who even described it in German.

The first was fairly easy to predict. The second two were a bit of a surprise.

I used to watch German RTL Television all the time when it was still available through cable here in Holland, and that channel aired lots nad lots of American shows, all dubbed in German. They'd never subtitle it, like the Dutch do.

I think I've seen Star Trek: The Next Generation, SeaQuest, Babylon 5, Stargate, Silk Stalkings, Highlander, The A Team, Airwolf, Knight Rider, Renegade, Hercules, Xena: Warrior Princess, The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air, Who's The Boss?, Full House, and Baywatch dubbed in German. And tha's not all.

The funny thing is that Germany tends to translate show titles to something German. Sometimes it's pretty straight forward, for example 'The A Team' would be 'Das A Team' (think Das Boot = The Boat). Star Trek: The Next Generation was Star Trek: Das Nächste Jahrhundert which actually means 'the next century', but there you go.

So I looked it up, and Silk Stalkings was 'Palm Beach Duo'
Renegade was called: 'Renegade - Gnadenlose Jagd'

And there's not much of note beyond that. Pretty straightforward translation of titles, if at all.

Doesn't really surprise me. Did you know they've dubbed South Park in Irish Gaelic?

I have seen Miami Vice in Japanese.

Hale and Pace was very popular in the Czech Republic, so I believe.
