I just discovered Falling Skies on Amazon prime.

I'm just about done with season one.

It's nice to see some truly alien aliens on TV for a change. Very Heinleinian...

The concept of ragtag resistance fighters vs technologically advanced invaders also reminds me of Armageddon 2419 AD/Airlords of Han .

So far, I like it a lot.

:D

wait until you get all caught up, it just keeps getting better ( though there were a few less than stellar ideas in season 3 ). Really can't wait for season 4 to start up!

I have taken a liking to Falling Skies and have been watching on Blu-Ray DVD, so I'm only through seasons 1 and 2, since season 3 discs may not come along until March. It's not so much the monsters, as it is the cast of characters. As with 'Walking Dead', you have your favorite people and are concerned for their well being.

I must say that I did like a similar show - 'Invasion' - better. It was a 2005 production directed by Shaun Cassidy (yup, the former teenybop singer). The premise was similar: families and a community infested with aliens who subtly infected selected characters and began altering their thought processes and biochemistry. There was less overt warfare than on Falling Skies, which for me was a plus. Sadly, though, Invasion was not picked up for second season.

I finally caught up through the end of season three. There were a few things I did not like in season 3, but over all, I'm still a big fan.

Without getting too spoilery....

Following the 18th century allegory that seems to be running through the show, I'd say the humans are less and less like American revolutionaries and more and more like Native Americans caught between French and British superpowers.

It's interesting. :D

Some viewers commented that they thought the writing on Season 3 was not up to the earlier seasons. Either way, I will buy the Blu-Ray. Season 4, now being filmed, has 12 eps instead of the previous ten.
