Given that movies, like all other art forms are subject to opinion and taste. There are some movies that we like that go against popular opinion that we like despite its (many) flaws. Let's share some of them shall we?

Here's a few of my picks:

-Star wars episode 2: As a big star wars fan this one took alot of time for me to like. Then i realize i should just treat it as a Sci-Fi action flick, and then it was much more enjoyable. I don't believe the bad romantic scenes with Padme and Anakin are enough to ruin the movie.

-Ralph Bakshi's The lord of the rings: While that movie is nowhere near as good as Peter Jackson's trilogy, i feel this one reminds me of a time where fantasy films where much more simple. The whimsical soundtrack really made me feel like i was off on a good old fashioned adventure, the visuals while dated is one of the few animated movies where you can see good use of the Rotoscope (yeah there's Wizards too). I usually watche that movie when im at home sick, since i find it relaxing.

-The mummy (first one): This movie was driven by my love of ancient Egypt (i major in ancient history in University). At a young age i really did find Imhotep scary (then again i din't really see too many scary movies). I only found out a few years ago that this was a remake, and the original version was good too. Sure Brandon Fraser isin't a very likeable actor, but i know he's capable of doing some good roles (George of the Jungle anyone?).

-The Three Ninjas: Whenever they were playing on TV my siblings and i would drop everything and watch them. Sure they're not great movies, but now a realize why we found them so entertaining; those are the equivalent of B-martial arts movies for kids, with lots of juvenile humour. We din't care that they were ripping-off home alone It entertained us as kids and that's all that mattered. I like to think Kick-back and Knuckle-up got better, but high noon (the one with Hulk Hogan) was just a cliche 90's movie. There was a reboot with completely different actors at one point but i can't seem to find it online, THAT ONE was insulting to watch.

(might list some more if any come-up)

HA! YES. The Three Ninjas was like the ultimate staple of my childhood. My sister and I still randomly chant 'Rocky loves Emily' on occasion. I remember thinking how stinking cool their bedroom was as a kid...just a classic despite it's incredibly negative reviews. I also really enjoyed The Mummy as a kid and it spurred my interest in Egypt as well :D Woo. I know plenty of Star Wars enthusiasts didn't terribly enjoy Return of the Jedi but because of my childhood obsession with AT-ST's, it was always my favorite. Got to add, I was a huge Hulk Hogan fanatic so I always really enjoyed Mr. Nanny despite completely understanding, even as a kid, that it was a god-awful 'movie.' At least he kept me entertained in Tropic Thunder.

Speed Racer. That movie is just pure unadulterated joy and so many people hate on it without even actually watching it.

The Man from Earth.

Gripping storytelling and character dialogue driven story. The whole movie is a group of people in a little room...discussing a certain topic.

To most its boring. No explosions, no drama, no superpowers ...just a damn good story that gets you thinking.

There was film I saw a year or two ago called Greenberg with Ben Stiller.

While I didn't think it was overly brilliant, I still enjoyed it. I was surprised to find how many people HATED this film with a passion when I logged on to the IMDb message boards. I thought it was good.

I always liked The Mountain which starred Spencer Tracey. I think that most people think it is kind of boring, but to me it is pure genius. The only time I've read anything about it, it was in an article in Outside magazine about how it inspired some college kids in Oklahoma to spend their weekends rock climbing and how they learned the skills to be quite formidable rock climbers compared to many other climbers.

Let's see... Nacho Libre, Kung Pow: Enter the Fist, I Love You Phillip Morris, just to name a few. I got a soft spot for goofy satire films. Phillip Morris is a good flick, just I live in an area where homophobia's way too common, so these kind of films get shunned most of the time. Plus, Jim Carrey's the shiz.

Again: the thing about the three ninjas is that most people forget it's a kids action/comedy and should not expect something along the lines of Rocky or a Bruce Lee flick. Also here's a bit of trivia: during the last fight scene between grandpa and Snyder, notic Snyder is not holding that Katana properly (a cliche for martial arts weapon fights).

I think people were over-thinking the Ewoks for return of the jedi. Yeah the AT-ST's were cool, but i'm more of an AT-At guy (nothing personal).

Yeah its funny to see Hulk Hogan then-and-now. It think its because his early 90's movies are such a contrast to his time with NWO.

Nacho Libre was funny, i think its more wrestling and hardcore Jack Black fans who really enjoyed that movie. A co-worker of mine once had a theory that its only Big guy's who truly understand Jack Black's comedic genius (he is a big guy).

Yes! Why din't i think of Kung Pow? Are people aware that this movie was purposely dubbed badly for comedic and satire effects?
Maybe the gay jokes were getting annoying after awhile, but other then that that movie was so funny.

The Matrix sequels and the Pirates of the Carribean sequels. In both cases I prefer the originals (slightly more so with The Matrix than with PotC), but I still enjoy the later films.

The Star Wars Prequel Trilogy-So they're not as good as the Original Trilogy and they do have some annoying and boring moments but I like them, III is my favourite and I would never watch the Original Trilogy without watching the Prequels first.

Judge Dredd-To be honest I like this movie because of how bad it is. OK so it's not extremely bad but it's really cheesy, cliched and so over the top and that's what makes it enjoyable to watch. If it weren't for the Nostalgia Critic's review then I probably wouldn't really enjoy this film that much. FYI I've seen the new Dredd film and it's way better than this one.

The Transformers Trilogy-OK so these movies have a ton of mistakes as well and the characters can be pretty annoying at times but something always draws me back to these movies now and again. Maybe it's Optimus Prime's awesome voice and dialouge.

The Pirates of the Caribbean Sequels-The first one will always be the best but I like the sequels as well. Yes they have alot of mistakes as well especially the 3rd one with it being so long and even confusing epsecially with the whole pointless calipso thing but I still find these movies pretty enjoyable at times.

I'm a horror movie buff, so, not only do I like movies most people don't, I like movies that most (normal) people have never heard of.

In terms of the horror genre, the movie that pops into my mind first is "Hellseeker," which is the sixth movie in the "Hellraiser" franchise. I don't care what anybody says, "evil Kirsty" rocks my socks.

Apparently a lot of people didn't like the James Bond film Die Another Day, but I thought it was pretty good.

As do I.

Also, Terminator 3. The 2nd was still the best for watching just as an action movie, but plotwise 3 was better and the ending actually fell in line with the first movie, which the 2nd movie tried to completely ignore.
