Even after so many years I still need to try isolation chambers, but beyond that... not sure how, as it's already difficult to get to such chambers. I even read the book with much more scientific detail.

I first watched it as a kid, and have ever since loved the bizarre, hallucinogenic imagery, as well as the very idea that such imagery can bring about physical metamorphosis.
Other movies by the same director that are worth seeing are Gothic, and The Lair Of The White Worm.

I would like to visit the Anechoic Test Chamber at Orfield Labs in Minneapolis. There is no echo as the room absorbs 99.99 percent of sound.

Didn't even know a bedroom's average db is 30, I wish mine was 0 always... not sure how it can go into negative territory, and while that chamber sounds interesting it's also quite expensive and clearly mostly aimed at manufacturers.

With regards to physical metamorphosis, it's kind of an extension from the psychological states that manifest... under a strong dissociative e.g. one feels one can be anything, if curtains are gazed at, they're curtains... at a certain point 'one' doesn't exist anymore (at minimum with eyes closed, although total sensory deprivation would be so interesting), which is what the end of the film hints towards... I like how love solves that, though, too bad if I went too far I only ever had love for seven months years ago (at that point he still once helped with a 'night terror', though, last one I ever had), so I'll probably be as lost as an astronaut in deep space.
