So you've got the techno hipster on the right VS the geeky, awkward, socially inept PC on the left. I think this is discrimination!! ! What's wrong with being geeky, socially inept, and awkward?

Yes, these ads are cute, but they sort of bother me, because of course I identify with the awkward guy who is always humiliated by the suave whippersnapper.

I think in the next episode the geeky PC guy should snap and go postal on that cheeky agitator.

The post title mentions that this is an ad for Apple. But the guy on the left looks very much like Bill Gates, so it might be another one of those competition-bashing ads.

Yes, they make him look like Bill Gates (who is putatively aspie) on purpose!

the pc isn't an aspie. he's just a clueless tool. Steve Wozinak (cofounder of apple) is an aspie, however. But he's not a suit like the pc guy.

The Royal Canadian Air Farce (a sketch comedy TV series on Canadian TV with a lot of political humour) has parodied this ad campaign, with two similar-looking guys.

Cool-looking guy on the right: "Hi, I'm a Liberal"
Not-cool-looking guy on the left: "And I'm a PC"

This, of course, refers to the two main political parties in Canada, the Liberal Party and the Conservative Party (who once were known as the Progressive Conservative Party, "PC" for short).

There's another commercial, for Cox Telephone or something, that goes something like this:

Phone repairman: I've checked out your phone, and it seems to be working fine.

Nerdy guy: Are you sure, because I gave my number to three smokin' hot chicks last night, but I didn't get one call.

Repairman: Yeah, it's working fine.

Nerd: What are the odds that they all called at once and jammed up the system?

Repairman: About one in a billion.

Nerd: So you're saying there's a chance?

Not only was that commercial offensive to people with AS, they ripped off Dumb and Dumber. :x

The Progressive Conservative Party? That must have been a confusing convention.

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs hate eachother anyways, or is it the other way around?

The Progressive Conservative Party was formed early last century when the Conservative Party merged with the Progressive Party. The provincial versions of the party are still known as PC. But a few years ago, the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada merged with the Canadian Alliance Party to become the Conservative Party... We're used to it.

The Air Farce program has selected scenes from past episodes archived for online viewing. The link below goes to an episode from last October that has two "Liberal and PC" sketches parodying the style of the Mac and PC ads:

The PC guy acts more aspie than the "cool" apple guy. He stammers and doesn't know how to respond to things. He has awkward body language. I just get tired of non-"cool" people being ridiculed all over the place.

If it's a crime to pluck out all of one's body hair, then arrest me, convict me, and throw me in a cell with a guy named Bubba.

he doesn't know how to respond to things because he's an idiot. Aspies know how to do computer talk without sounding like morons.
